Watched it all this weekend. Blimey, as surreal as ever.
House of Cards is back on Netflix, only on episode 4 but, it was always an over the top version of US politics, It seemās quite normal now. Still, looks amazing. Was Netflixās first statement that weāll make our own content. Robin Wright is 52 , sheās stunning
I enjoyed Fleabag.
Just started on American Gods on Amazon
Weird compelling shit. On episode 2. Shall be watching more
Just finished watching this season.
The show is based on a UK original, of course - which I think I might prefer, but I still really like the US version, especially as the paths of the two shows diverged beyond geography.
As for Mrs Underwood vs Mrs Urquart, Robin Wright wins hands down.
Watched all of Taboo in 2 days as off sick. Apparently there are 3 seasons to come (someone who fancies Tom Hardy shared that on facebook). I like the scenery, costumes etc but donāt fancy Mr Hardy enough to carry on watching 3 more seasons. Or is it series.
I just watched āMurdered for being differentā on BBC iplayer its about the brutal attack on Sophie Lancaster and Robert Maltby in 2007 which lead to Sophieās death. This was because they were goths. Some of it is dramatization. Itās really well done. Their love story is spliced with the attack, the aftermath and a you male struggling with telling the police who the perpetrators were as he was too scared. There are a few online clips of Robert and his mum and Sophieās mum talking about it 10 years later. Great cast too.
You may need tissues.
Lol ⦠err
⦠Iāll keep that thought to myself, inappropriate Iād imagine
HOPEFULLY, just a few hours to wait until our blown up Telly gets replaced with the new one due to be delivered today (ish)
Which will mean switching from laptop to proper online TV.
So as weād become content we have simply continued out 5 year mission to power watch everything Star Trek, Iāve commented on the shows themselves and now happily tucked into late seasons of Voyager (God, 7 of 9 was Perfection - oh and added depth to the storyline as well)
Anyway, last night watching the episode Tsunkatse I had that - āWhoa - thatās thingumybobā. Which led to some googling and I have to say some surprise at the list of people who have had cameos in the varying versions of Star Trek.
To save all but the nerds googlingā¦
Iggy Pop - no, Seriously
Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson
Mick Fleetwood
Ashley Judd & Kirsten Dunst
Christopher (Back to the Future) Lloyd
Christian Slater
Kelsey Grammar
King Abdullah II of Jordan
Stephen Hawking (as himself)
Joan Collins
The original RoboCop Peter Weller
Seth McFarlance
My favourite of course has to be Dwight Schultz.
WHO? You all cry? Dwight played the brking mad Reg Barclay in TNG, Voyager AND First Contact - and the classic was he simply recreated the character from his more famous TV Show role by adding some Tech Wizardry to ? Yep Mad Murdoch from The A Team.
For the oldies - ToS had a cameo (only his 3rd TV appearance) for none other than David Soul!
The nd ever Star Trek featrued Dr Elizabeth Drenner - played by? Sally Kellerman? Who went on to become Maj. Margaret āHot Lipsā OāHoulihan in the 1970 movie version of MASH
Iāve stayed away from cameos in the movies as much as possible, but the one big stand out was an early movie break for?
Our own Tom Hardy in Nemesis
Ripper Street is down to its final two episodes. Very dark. Well written and acted. Gets better every season.
Leftovers. Apparently this is shit hot.
Anyone watched it?
Sure itās been mentioned. Think I may have watched a few whilst abroad.
Anne of Green Gables (2017)
Iāve come into this one almost entirely cold. I donāt know what itās about, Iāve seen no trailer, Iāve read no reviews. All I know for certain, is that itās on Netflix, and it makes @coxford_lou cry. That last fact ought to be Ominous, but not all things that make Lou cry are objectionable to me. Take anal, for example.
āAnne of Green Gablesā sounds faintly familiar, Iāve an idea that itās a book, albeit one I havenāt read, but at the same time, almost entirely impenetrable. Iām alright with āAnneā, and āofā, and āGreenā, but Iāve got no idea what āGablesā are. Iāve give it a great deal of thought, and Iām kind of hoping itās a body part. That would be fraught with drama. āOh Gawd, look here, me Gables, me bleeding Gables, theyāve gone all green!ā
Turns out, of course, that I neednāt have worried. There is no show called Anne of Green Gables on all of netflix. Lou was complete lies about that! So, after some consideration, I watched a show called " Anne with an E" instead. That seemed a lot more promising. I could enjoy a show about Girls called Anne, if they were all wacked out on E.
It starts out in Olden Days. What you have is a Man and his Wife, and we find out that they are also Brother and Sister. This was not uncommon in Olden Days, and it probably explains why thereās no children knocking about. Donāt get me wrong, theyāve probably had kids, cos this was in the days before The Pill and i.e. Condoms prob, but in Olden Days, if a baby come out all fucked up, they just tossed it casually onto the compost heap, or at best, sent it Away.
The Man/Wife/Sister/Brother are chatting about a slave theyāve ordered, to help out with the farming and what not. Heās on his way, and theyāre pretty pumped up to meet him.
Then we meet a young, ginger girl on a train. Itās not immediately clear why, but it turns out that she is the slave, and sheās going to Gables, which it turns out is a place, and not a body part. Curses!
A lot is made of this young girl, and how ugly she is. I wasnāt sure why tbh. Everyone in the show is ugly, because this was in the days before make-up, and botox, and boob enlargement surgery, and all the modern conveniences that make Women tolerable in appearance.
Anyway, when the girl rocks up, there is a bit of drama. The Wife/Sister really wanted a boy, and proposes to Send Her Back. I suppose this is where Lou identifies. I was wondering bout that, but Lou really wants a Man too, and she would find a Girl to be a poor substitute. I can see why she was cry srs.
Around this point though, I was pretty gripped myself. Iād come to quite like the young, ginger girl, and she was very dissappointed that they Didnāt Want Her. I donāt think Iāve ever seen a girl so dissappointed! Except for, you know, their First Time With Me. She was v.emotions, and that made me v.emotions, and I was cry like baby.
Then it prattled on a bit in a will they send her home, wonāt they sent her home kind of way. I checked the time. We were like 40 minutes in. There was another 50 minutes to go! Fucks sake. I stuck with it patiently, though I was become increasingly ungripped. Eventually, they sent her home, and show ended. Thank fuck, I said. That was alright, but Iām glad itās over.
Starting episode 2, said Netflix. And youāve got another 5 episodes after that! No thanks, Netflix, I said, and shut the cunt down.
Bearās review in three words: āOne to avoid.ā
Well, yes, but that gives less scope for Trolling Lou, which is our Primary Object.
Caught the inaugural episode of The Mash Report on iPlayer over the weekend.
Bit of a shaky start, but think it might be one to look out for.
Was a Vorta in DS9, iirc.
Christopher (Back to the Future) Lloyd
Not a fkn cameo, dude. He was the antagonist in Search for Spock, FFS.
Christian Slater
Fair enough. I think his mum made him do it.
Kelsey Grammar
Captain in one of the films, iirc.
Stephen Hawking (as himself)
Shite inclusion. Holodeck with Einstein.
The original RoboCop Peter Weller
Again, not a cameo. Antagonistā¦
And he was in craploads of episodes, so not a cameo.
Our own Tom Hardy in Nemesis
Pretty good he was too.
What about Whoopi? Again, her mum made her do it.
No, no @bearsy keep going with it! It gets better! When she starts school and they all start bullying her (partly because sheās annoying but also because she tells a story about her previous foster parents who would go upstairs and play with his fury mouse).
I wonder if you meant Furry, but I like ur way more better
Oops - I did! But Iāll leave as is.
