I’ve been watching the second series of Fortitude. I’m not sure if I think it’s any good or not but feel duty bound to keep watching.

I’m with you on this. It seems to have lost the plot but I have to keep watching in case it finds it again.

Black Sails is back and is great stuff, even if they have toned down the sexual content. It is an adult prequel to Treasure Island and is well worth watching if you like a jolly roger or two!

SS-GB. Interesting premise. Looks like it could be a good show.

That’s interesting, just about to start on the second series myself … what did you reckon on the first season ?

Personally I really loved it right up until the ending which I seem to remember, was a bit underwhelming

Same @steveintheforest . Enjoyed it all the way through but wasn’t convinced by the ending of S1. This series though is beginning to seem very silly. I am watching no other series on the TV at the moment, so feel I should continue with this but I really can’t decide if it’s shit, ok or good. I’m terrible at watching TV.

Towards the end of S3 of Star Trek TNG now.

Simple report, binge watching it now rather than catching odd episodes, it has MUCH more humour in it. Little In-Jokes now become much funnier and more clever.

Patrick Stewart was a great actor before he got the role, but when he needed to ā€œTurn it onā€ By God he was fantastic.

S3 Ep 23 - Sarek for example - (Just for you Geeks) He Mind Melds with a Vulcan (and ST Legend) who is suffering from a form of Dementia and Picard is filled with 200+ years of Anguish and Emotions. Simply epic performance.

The effects (post Blu-Ray) remastering are excellent, seeing as the shows are now - wait for it - 30 years old, and as I said before most of the stories are tight and entertaining.

And thank goodness as we approach shows made in the 90’s, the hair styles are becoming less mulleted.

Gonna be tough going without my daily fix while I am home in UK…

But then I’ll be drinking Real Ale so who gives a shit about TV

Caught 1st 3 episodes of Mars while in the UK chilling at the weekend.

Liked this a lot, clever integration of current interviews and the story of Space X & Eon Flux the Electric Car Bloke (or whatever his name is) with the story of man’s colonisation of Mars in the future a real docu-drama.

Once I have finished my binge watching of Star Trek TNG this is deffo on the download list

Appeals to Sci Fi Geeks and normal Humans and no Capeshit to be seen

I’ve mentioned Girls a few times now. It always seems like they are trying to push the boundaries and this week Hannah grabbed a guys dick. I say his dick but it looked more like a prosthetic dick. At least I hope it was because it didnt look overly natural. Anyway, for those who like some ā€œseriously…WTFā€ moments, this show is for you.

Thanks Soggy.

I’m sure there must be some on here want to watch guys dicks being grabbed on TV, but if it’s ok with you, I’ll pass mate.

Probably mentioned this before. Inside No 9 by Steve Pemberton and Reese Shearsmith (of League of Gentlemen). Most recent one was a little bit more gruesome then the previous episode. Each show is different but all happen in a place with number 9 on the door. All a bit creepy.

About to drift through more of The Expanse. The climax of episode four was pretty interesting.

Can’t be arsed to check back to see if anyone has mentioned it before (even me if pickled on a Friday night).

Am currently watching Vikings on Amazon. Loosely based on history. Loads of violence, but compelling storyline. Good cinematography etc.

Am on series 2 with another 2 after that I think.

Watching Legion, Just the most original drama  Noah Hawley who rebooted Fargo, no easy thing, but he took that and sole control on a drama series … Fargo played with the 3rd wall etc. It’s fucking great and in the superhero world

Also. how did I miss Parks and Rec. only now just watching it :astonished:

Have t’mother-in-law down this weekend, so I shall be binge-drinking and binge-watching Vikings in equal measures

:lou_lol:

Time for some big love for The Expanse. First off, if you haven’t seen it, I envy and pity you in equal measure. The only thing that I don’t like about it is that it’s going to be one hell of an act for the new Star Trek series (delayed again) to follow. I’ve watched quite a bit of sci fi on TV, but I’ve always had standards. Life is short, I am not going to spend days of my time watching Kevin Sorbo in Andromeda. I watch the best stuff, at least.

The best recent sci-fi show set in space was Battlestar Galactica, imo. Very well setup, bit dodgy in the middle and very well concluded. It not only managed to do what good sci-fi does, scrutinise modern issues through a futuristic lens, it was also technically excellent visually and aurally and had some memorable arcs for each character. Even so, it had filler episodes, very much following the Star Trek template, exploring individual relationships or aspects of the fleet, not really driving anything forward.

The Expanse really doesn’t stop moving, building or aptly, expanding. Focusing primarily on the exploits of one ship and its crew, the first season impressed the hell out of me because I didn’t know where it was going to go next. Even then, the series was introducing other locations and characters, giving a sense of a functioning solar system. Earth and Mars operate as independent ā€œnationsā€, while a region further out, known as ā€œThe Beltā€, is a loose confederation of those on asteroids and mining stations and suchlike, rarely unified in purpose, and often shit upon by larger interests. The series spends most of its time with ā€œBeltersā€, although it sensible anchors itself to other locations too.

It’s that good that I really don’t want to spoil it. Some will already know the complete story (having read the novels), but I’m getting it all blind and enjoying it immensely. It’s got all the ingredients of great space sci-fi and very few of the impediments. When I rewatch old episodes of Star Trek, I won’t watch them all. You don’t have to and in some cases, you really wouldn’t want to. They press the reset button most weeks, so the hypothetical new viewer understands what’s going on.

I’ll be hitting the Expanse in full on my second orbit.

Pap?

Where can we find this?

Season one is on Netflix.

Season two is airing on SyFy in the US. I’ve obviously been flying over every week to watch it.
