šŸ“ŗ GOOD SHOWS (no capeshit pls)

Srs answrs Bear. No trolls.

sry that should read Big Bang Theory, Miranda, or Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Let the record show that Bear takes issue with my taste, but not the fact that he is sotonians’ Dr Alan Statham or that he is a funkwit.

In fact, this clip perfectly embodies his ā€˜look at me with my poor grammar and underpants showing’ posting style…

Arggh.

Might have spotted another classic for Bearsy - Damien.

Just seen the advert - Damien has grown up after The Omen.

Leading a normal life is now rediscovering the secrets of his past and wants to find out if he is the Antichrist.

Can’t wait…

Well maybe I can

Thanks Bletch,

I appreciate your appreciation!

I think Bearsy’s strong opinions could be taken advantage of by telling him that the contents of a tea bag tastes better than dry coffee. He may well be compelled to try it? #insideGreenWinglols

In the past I’ve continued to watch certain shows after a break/becoming a little un-inspired to continue, and usually, my opinion is bang wrong, and the show ends up being superb!

Going by my recent track record, I should probably start watching this again…!

Really good. In terms of plotit reminds me of Broadchurch… where ll tehose who knew Lea are potentially guilty and trying to hide things unrelated or related… looking forward to the resolution.

Isn’t the point of Omen adaptations to make the previous one look a little bit better?

The Omen is one of my favourite films. I might watch it this week, now I’ve been reminded. Creepy as fuck, and utterly superb performances from the two leads.

Omen II is not as good. It’s essentially the same film again, only with a different family and the antichrist now being a teenager.

You think that’s okay after you watch Omen III, which despite being brilliant and brutal in all kinds of ways, has one of the worst endings ever.

Omen IV is made for TV bollocks, so doesn’t really count, and the remake of the original film was never going to pass muster.

Intrigued, but ready to bail out at the first opportunity if it’s shite.

My money is on the Uncle/fathers brother…

Me too. But maybe that’s too obvious. I never watched Broadchurch. Maybe I should.

…or her friend… a simple lover rivalry thing?

Broadchurch does have a lot of similarities - the main one though is the way it delves into each of the faults in all the characters faults and hidden skeletons - and you sort of swing between them in who seems most guilty… not sure what came first teh Spanish original, but suspect ther may have been some cross polination… good stuff though.

Apologies couldn’t find movie thread.

Cut Bank.

Classic unintended consequences thriller.with Liam Hemsworth & John Malkovitch.

Cracking film

Gomorrah.

Just watch it.

It’s on Sky Atlantic over here and it is fucking brilliant.

It’s a very gritty and very dark story of the Camorra (Mafia) in Naples. It’s a subtitled Italian language show and if you like grown-up drama and you enjoy the sensationalism and glamour of the Hollywood mafia stripped away, then you have to give this a go.

The show follows, Ciro a foot-soldier in the Savastano clan, and his struggle in the power dynamics between his boss Don Pietro (Savastano), Don Pietro’s wife Lady Imma, Don Pietro’s son Gennaro and Don Pietro’s enemy Salvatore Conte.

Ciro is beguilingly charming and handsome and yet so fucking cold and brutal. He is the archetypal anti-hero. You watch him trying to mentor the young Gennaro (who has a truly amazing character arc) and do evil things to keep the collapsing Savastano clan together, and you know he’s going to get him a lot of shit, but you root for him - even when he…, no I can’t spoil it for you.

Explaining Gomorra to a mate (Rust Cohle) I said it’s part Sopranos (massive story and cast of characters centred around a family), part The Wire (shot in a way that makes you feel you’re the fly on the wall) and part Miller’s Crossing (where the central character Ciro has to grift within his clan and between clans to get what he wants).

I haven’t enjoyed a show this much in a long time.

It gets 8.7/10 on IMDB and 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Just watched Episode one of series 2… Ciro, man… fuck what has he become…? :lou_surprised:

As promised. Polish soap update.

Trudne Sprawy. Wow what can I say? A 60 year old Grannie gets pregnant. Oh the trouble she has, shocked stares, snide remarks & giggles as she carries her bump around. Then the sprog pops out all is healthy except there is civil war in their nicely repainted Communist Era apartment block between the Happies & the Shut that fucking noise up" crews. The other girls all laugh at here when she goes to mother & baby Yoga. Then OMG! On a trip to Makro her hubby (being decrepit at 60) forgets to put the baby in the car! Oh the wailing and teeth gnashing (I understood that bit) so they do anot emergency 25 point turn back to Makro & wow one of the Yoga batches is chatting baby up.

It is filmed with 1 camera spinning between everyone talking made me quite dizzy (or was that the Vodka?) It also cuts to the bad actors doing face on pieces to camera in car boot sale quality make up.

Gripping stuff can’t wait to find out whether the very passed off Granddaughter finally accepts the new arrival…

Spitzal.

Wow. Imagine Holby City with 1 camera & the same face to camera as Trudne. A man had a bad back Docs put an XRAY on the wall & looked grim. Some young chick kept holding her arm so they looked at her back. Apparently this is as huge here as Rolf Harris’s Animal Hospital thing.

Luckily at this moment the beer & vodka arrived ready for the football.

No wonder the locals thought it was the most amazing exciting game in the history of football. Also, it is now VERY clear why so many Poles choose to live in the UK. Want to get rid? Don’t vote Brexit just cancel Eastenders.

Saturday one of Polands’ leading Rock bands is playing at the Village Fete (or whatever they call it) gonna have to call that one in & review for you all

Watching Rush Hour on TV.

Can you believe, they don’t Dub it, they gave a bloke READING the script! Unreal.

Epi 7…

now thinking it might be her Brother…

Penny Dreadful on Sky Atlantic is really good. It’s a mash up of Gothic literature and victorian pulp fiction. It looks amazing and the performances are spot on. Eva Green and Rory Kinnear stand out
