Well my top gadget of the moment is a bottle opener. COYS.
Sounds like a prime candidate for wall mounting
So itās taken me over a month to come back with something, I give you (fanfare please) gameplay.
What the spectrum lacked in colour and sound it made up for with gameplay!
I have to confess, I defected from Spectrum to C64 (and later on Amiga). Even the gameplay was better on C64. I had several games on both platforms, or played the C64 versions round a friends after playing it on my Spectrum. I can assure you that the Spectrum tended to be jerkier and less playable than its C64 equivalent.
Beach Head, Way of the Exploding Fist, Impossible Mission, Rambo, Bomb Jack, Kung Fu, Track and Field/Hyper Sports - all played better as well as looked and sounded better on C64.
To be fair, some of the VIC20 games were better than the Spectrumās!
Sorry, but I think youāre gonna have to take another month and come up with something better.
Placebo effect dear boy, all the biege plastic made things feel smoother and betterā¦
I still have my ZX81 replete with 16K ram pack and a stick on keyboard.
I also have my original 16K Spectrum as well as a Texas Instruments TI 994a which the old man bought although he knew naff all about computers. And a Grandstand Invaders From Space game.
I could open my own little section in the Science Museum.
Still got one of those too!
Just got a Chromecast Audio device (already have a couple of Chromecast video streamers).
Very impressed.
Iāve got a Naim Audio system and Iāve connected it to that. It compares quite favourably with my custom built audio PC and expensive digital to analogue converter.
Havenāt had time to do back to back comparisons, and itās obviously inferior, but the sound is decent.
I have the Google Play music subscription service so it really makes it simple to cast music from the phone or tablet to the Naim.
Worth a look for Ā£30.
So, Iāve just ordered a digital optical cable for the Chromecast Audio. Time to squirt its ones and zeroes through the DAC and see what happens.
I guess it depends what compression Google is using on the streamed audio.
So, after a couple of weeks of listening, the result of Chromecast Audio and a good DAC is pretty good
Really good sound quality for a Ā£30 device, and whilst all it is doing is shepherding the ones and zeroes from Google to the DAC, thereās still a lot that can go wrong.
Itās given me the impetus to actually sit in my āmusic roomā and surf for good shit in good quality - all driven by the tablet or phone.
Jeez, my house isnāt big enough for a music room
I think Bletch is referring to his garden shed, or maybe the space under the stairs.
Fritzl keller.
To be fair, I did put āmusic roomā in quotes.
Itās an extension that I built as a music room for listening and playing, but in reality, itās more of a sun room these days.
Solo oboe performance?

If I could āplay my own oboeā Iād either be in the Olympic squad for gymnastics, or Iād be in porn films instead of watching them.
I actually play with a big baby.

Downplayed the size of your house by saying itās not really a music room, more of a sun room? Pass the Bolly Bletch
Itās not that big.
We donāt keep the actual sun in it, Bucks.
