I didnt go much on Monaco, so im not surprised.
Elkie Brooks at the Concorde tonight. Full house, and went down an absolute storm.
Did all her hits, and finished with terrific covers of Purple Rain and Weâve Got Tonight. My personal highlights were Fool if you think itâs over, and Nights in white satin.
We were sat next to Elkieâs cousin, Susan Bookbinder, who had a namecheck from the maestro Great evening, really enjoyed it.
Am sure it was wonderful and I have a soft spot for her & her music
Loved the fact everyone had posh chairs.
Hopefully it wasnât just the 12 from around the dinner table
They are terrible. Those âchairsâ only get wheeled out when itâs a sellout, uncomfortable doesnât begin to describe them
Yeah and theyâre so old that you try to lean back on the back two legs and youâll end up on your arse - I have the scars
Back in student days, I knew another of her cousins, Mike Perlman, and we got to meet her when she was having chart success (1978 or 79) and he was also related to Jack Rosenthal and Maureen Lipman.
This MUST be worth a name drop badge!
Youâre only saying that because nobody is going to catch up with youâŚever
Talk about name droppers, I have a friend who was a reporter for Melody Maker back in the day. His claim to fame was he was the only person to ever get a interview with Nick Drake.
Unfortunately it turned out he was wrong, a reporter on Jackie Magazine also got a review.
If they play the theme from âStreethawkâ give them a clap from me

To be brutally honest, I wouldnât have known it if they did play it. The only stuff of theirs Iâm familiar with is the score they did for Risky Business they did play the main theme from that.
Great first half. Great 30 minutes after the break.
Then an absolutely interminable exercise in freeform self-indulgence for a good (well actually, fucking awful) 45 minutes. We sat it out to the bitter end, unlike at least a quarter of the Royal Circle. And I canât blame those who fucked off early one little bit.
I saw Tangerine Dream at the Gaumont Scotty, must have been the late 1970s or thereabouts. I was a fan of the hippy trippy stuff in those days, still am a bit, Caravan, Softs, Gong etc, but I remember TD were hard going, most of it a forgettable self indulgent noise, and that was after a couple of jazz woodbines! I remember giving up after about an hour and going for a bevy.
Thatâs precisely what I should have done, NK.
Un fvcking believable
Space 1999 S1 Ep 19 from 1975 opens with a Tangerine Dream concert - freeform guitar shit.
Remarkable
That audience looks like I felt last night.
Ok this is well weird
