Queensland is on my list when I next go to Aus.

Tbh i wasnt whelmed by it.
Went decades ago Test in Brisbane then to Cairns & a Live Aboard for a niggt on the Reef.
Was OK Cairns was a shit hole
Went back couple of years later with Ex Mrs D_P & kids.
Did Surfers Paradise meh.
Sub tropical rainforest cool, theme park shit, Brisbane again then up to Daintree which was ok for 2 nights not 5.
Wouldnât go back, much preferred Margaret River, then Exmouth & Ningaloo Reef wish weâd gone there & Monkey Mia/Shark Bay & Whale Sharks tbh
Yeah, itâs pretty expensive. Not just to get here, but living expenses too. When I first came out in 2005 it was SO much cheaper. I looked at a property in Thurroul (small town south of Sydney). Asked Dizzyfeet senior if he could lend me the ÂŁ22k to buy it - no⌠Same property is about ÂŁ400k now. Bonkers.
@Polski_Filip I donât think itâs quite as bad now as it was perhaps. Weâre in Palm Cove currently which is absolutely gorgeous. (30 mins north of Cairns). There are some truly lovely places out here. Not sure Iâll be upping sticks and moving the Dizzyfeet empire just yet though. Who wants to dance in 35 degrees of heat and 90% humidity!?!?

I recall Brisbane as being lovely except i felt so far away from " the big city"
Cairms was such a disappointment just in mid 90s a place built to rip off back packers.
Daintree was visually stunning but apart from dsughter going on a horse ride/beach trek we were just uncomfortable- dont seim in sea/sit on beach Crocodiles stuff and having a massive Snake phobia i was fvcked on day 1 checking in when they told us to look under tge beds when returning to the lodge rooms each night.
Surfers was just shit.
Whatweshould have done and if i win the lottery i would do is to sail the Whitsundays.
Exmouth / Ningaloo was so much more undiscovered a 4 hour puddle jumper to get there, no hotels, a mobile home.
Mandatory nudist beaches with Turtles hatching (around Christmas)

A 4 mile drift snorkel over the reef saw nobody else just some Roosâ all day.
Butcher at camp site only having Roo & Croc steaks for that nightâs Bbq.

I actually rocked up with a mega hangover one Friday afternoon and played for their 2nd Xi. Everyone ignored me, didnât bat. didnât bowl, but to my shock took a head high fizzer at 2nd slip then took a running catch out in the deep.
As we walked off skipper invited me to play the next week for the 1st XI.
I rocked up took a sli catch and one on the boundary and got asked to open the bowling.
0-2 after 4 balls when we ran a leg bye. 1st ball took the slightest of edges but given not out.
I tore my groin muscle going for a quick single and was out for 42.
Later as MoTM I had to buy a case of beer, then had to buy a case of beer for avoiding a 50 where I would have ad to buy 2 cases of beer⌠had a lot of handshakes and photos with the opposition that I lost and a photocopy of the score sheet. Apparently we were playing Pakistan B and I had take 20+ runs off their young opening bowler Shoaib Ahktar.
Never went back, couldnât afford the cost of the beers.
Went out to bat our #1 had chest guard, arm guard, helmet, thigh pads etc - I looked like this geezer except never played anything so expansive. Most of my shots were dabbed forward defensives which went for 4 as the bowlers were so fast. I played my 1st shot (forward defensive) AFTER the Keeper had taken the ball.

9.01.2024 Tuesday sunset on Pilsko in the Beskid naywiecki. The day before yesterdayâs trip to Beskidy was another big trip out of oneâs comfort zone. I spent a total of 18 hours outside the house, and to reach the east in Lubansk, I had to leave at 2.45 am. The temperature in Gorce dropped to -21 degrees this night. The day was short, so there was no time for breaks and immediately after the sunrise in Gorce I drove to Pilsko, where I intended to arrive in the evening, which is around 3 pm. Managed to reach the peak at the planned time, i.e. an hour before sunset. The sulfur frost and super strong wind were very difficult to bear, but it was worth staying to see the last colors of the day
Both exits included a total of 18 km hiking in the snow in the mountains.
