šŸ—³:tories::labour: General Election 2024

Just after the local elections, the Tories tried to make out like a hung Parliament was possible.

Most folk thought that bollocks, and Labour’s 20+ percent poll lead.

Thing is, it’s not dissimilar in poll lead than in 2017. May enjoyed that advantage then. It was squandered.

If Labour fuck this up, it’ll be a humiliation for New New Labour.

It’s insane and you’re correct

Blair had the savvy to do all his purges post victory.

Not in the middle of an election campaign

There’s a fine line between ruthlessness and cunts.

I think the leading Labour faction may have crossed it

Indeed.

Well the Labour Party have spent five days having to discuss Diane Abbott and sacking off left wing candidates and an MP.

Would love to see Labour get in without Starmer

There is a credible campaign to unseat him. If I’d been campaigning in Chingford I’d be shifting my focus to Keir’s manor.

Whilst it would be amusing, it won’t get legs - most voters don’t care about politics in the same way - they will see Labour and vote acccordingly

also I’m not sure Labour voters are as pissed off with Starmer as you lefties are. He is a damn sight more appealing to the voters Labour need to get in that Corbyn ever was

But Corbyn had principles which Starmer doesn’t.

A weakness is often a strength overplayed

Corbyn tied himself up in knots because he struggled to compromise on his principles and unfortunately to be an effective politician you have to be pragmatic

Our Tory candidate really is trying hard to shoot hi self in the foot. Just posted a photo of himself outside the local food bank singing the praises of the lady who runs it (who refused to be in the pic).

He political naivety is such that he didn’t expect the torrent of comments pointing out that it is his party that have vastly increased poverty and created the need for food banks.

Chingford of course is the constituency where Faiza Shaheen was sacked off as a candidate and immediately replaced by Starmer favourite Shama Tatler. Shaheen’s offence was to have ā€˜liked’ tweets, mostly going back ten years or so, including one where she liked a sketch by Jewish comedian Jon Stewart which was years old. The other tweets she liked were mostly criticizing Israel’s actions in Gaza. The complaints about Shaheen were made by The Jewish Labour Movement, a pro Israel organization affiliated with the World Zionist organization, who trawl social media looking for historical pro Palestinian or anti- Israel posts or ā€˜likes’ made by Palestinian supporting Labour MPs or candidates. Interestingly, to be a member of the JLM you don’t need to be either Jewish or a member of the Labour Party. Shama Tatler, who was parachuted in with indecent haste to replace Faiza Shaheen in Chingford is a leading light in the Jewish Labour Movement. So if I understand this correctly, JLM members spend hours trawling social media to find anything that can be portrayed as anti Israel by Labour candidates, get Starmer to do their bidding and sack them, then jump in and take over the seat. It stinks!

At least they aren’t actually buying seats unlike many other "institutions corporates think tanks blah blahs etc
Which stinks more

Nige is back.

That not involved promise lasted about 4 days…

Well spotted Bletch

Not the biggest cunt in British politics but close - Sadly someone with populist appeal because he voices the shit insular and bigoted opinions that many have but are uncomfortable in voicing… More lurching to the right. Whilst this may split the Tories, do we really want this further polarization - further to the right on a populist bubble - a bubble created explosive verbal diarrhoea?

I trust you’ll be making the same remarks in regard to Germany, France, etc if the EU elections go the way many are expecting?

The right isn’t only confined to the UK.

Very True, sadly, but this is a UK GE thread so that’s my focus. Seems we are mire politically aligned with Europe than many thought

I don’t see too much problem with Farage standing for election. Mainly because he’s a lazy cunt who will get found out if he becomes an MP. Like Johnson, he deals in grift and not graft. He was a lazy cunt as an MEP and he will be a lazy cunt as an MP. He has spent his whole political life whinging about what he doesn’t like about what people with responsibility do, safe in the knowledge he will never be in a position to have to actually enforce change himself. He sees politics as being a gobshite - same as Johnson and all his cronies, but as time has shown they get found out soon enough and will be voted out into political exile. Having him on the outside will always give him more agency than actually serving, making a balls up of it, irritating his constituents and disappearing up his own arse.

I doubt Farage could ever upset the natives of deepest Essex tbh
But good point
