šŸ—³:tories::labour: General Election 2024

The Tories will not want to win they want Labour to clean up the last 15 years of shit and after maybe 10 years of Labour balancing the books they will get back in and steal it all again.

Last time that happened we got stuck with a huge raft of appalling PFI deals that we’re still paying for. The Tories are absolute shite, but don’t fool yourself that the new lot are going to be much better.

This has never happened

Brown spent everything and then some he didn’t have. He inherited an economy that was just starting to motor and instead of paying off the credit cards, he legged it down the shops. And when that ran out he took out loans and then flogged the family silver )gold) at the lowest price he could get

His last hurrah was to saddle us with two aircraft carriers we didn’t need, couldn’t afford and cannot supply with aircraft

The only difference between the shit show now and the shit show coming is the manner in which money will be hosed up the wall.

General election will be July 4th

Excellent. Do we get to break away from British rule and become independent?

We get to break away from Tory rule and become civilised, honest and caring.

Assuming the great unwashed don’t get bunged more tax breaks in the next few weeks, forget about the last 14 years and vote Tory.

Anyway, it’s now open season for political mudslinging. I dread to think how nasty it’ll become

WTF? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and expecting a different outcome.

They created the shitty situation we have. They are not the solution to their own disastrous mess.

Yes, but as I think we’ve established on here that principles, intentions and morals go straight out the window is there is short term immediate gain for many.

Corrected for you

I’ve just moved some stuff from the ā€œThe Latest Newsā€ thread to here so things may seem a bit disjointed time wise.

To be honest the more I see of Starmer the more he makes me cringe, he’s such a phony. Yesterday’s performance was a classic example, he speaks as if he’s talking to primary school children. And when he keeps banging on about being ā€˜humble’, it’s nauseating. He is the reincarnation of Uriah Heep, which is the image I can’t get out of my head now. He’s seriously creepy. And don’t get me started on the giant sized Union Jacks draped everywhere, it’s so over the top. During the locals a few weeks ago I had a Labour person come knocking clutching a campaign leaflet which was festooned with red white and blue. I asked her if she was the National Front candidate, she stuttered and stammered and started banging on about how the Labour Party had changed. I told her she wasn’t wrong there, just a shame they’d morphed into the Tory Party. Told her I’d been a Labour supporter and voter for the best part of 60 years, but never again until they got rid of the charlatan closet Tory who’d lied his way to the leadership. She didn’t hang around to argue the toss.

As all respect, subtlety and nuance has disappeared from debate and has been replaced by immediate binary judgement, it seems an act of grim self harm to actually want to be an MP these days. As a result i have a grudging respect to those who want to put themselves in the front line, but only if they have some form of commitment to public service and not personal gain. This is something that has been missing for a number of years with an abundance of self serving Tories taking control of their party and is part of the reason why a change is needed. I don’t hold the view that Labour will be just as shit as the Tories, in the same way i wouldn’t write off a player who signs for Saints, before seeing them in action over a number of games. If Labour win, then they can be judged.

I was really hopeful that Keir wouldn’t be the fucking stooge he looks to be, but I am starting to REALLY worry he’s just Tory light. We need a huge change in this country, and he’s not going to be it. I look back now at JC’s manifesto and I cringe in embarrassment that I wasn’t progressive/intelligent enough to actually see his policies could have really made a difference in the right way.

I truly believe that if they hadn’t shoe horned JC out of the way then they would be in power now.
