šŸ•¹ Games I am playing at the moment

The faces look their age, when driving it looks great but they seriously need to up their game on 6 when implementing the controls, clunky and totally dated.
Still worth a play but I’m waiting for CyberPunk and Witcher on the new systems more.

Cyberpunk recently got its next-gen upgrade. It’s decent.

I didn’t know it was out now, I’d have got that and then got Elden Ring, ah well I’ll get it when I’ve finished with Elden Ring.

Didn’t buy that one. Everyone says it’s good, but I haven’t really gotten on with much of FROM Software’s stuff in the past. I reckon I’d be buying it for the hype, it won’t end up being my cup of tea and it’ll sit unloved and unplayed after fifty notes have departed my account.

Its totally and utterly unforgiving and I don’t know if I’ll continue, I’m average at playing but this is off the scale in difficulty, Bloodborne type of difficulty, 8 hours played and I have only progressed an hour if that, the thing is there are no instructions, no guidance nothing, you’re plonked into this beautiful land where almost everything is super fucking hard and can one hit you.

Surely you can just walk around Everton Brow after dark instead?

Fair play.

Yeah, he’ll have those things you call ā€œreflexesā€.

Remember those things? The ones that abandoned us?

And the dexterity to mash buttons and combinations

Elden Ring isn’t a button masher at all, its timing and having the patience (which I evidently don’t have) to learn enemies moves and attack sequences, spacing and timing and its right up there for difficulty.

See that’s the sort of thing that would interest me much more with a decent VR setup. I think it’d be a lot easier without the mind to pad translation matrix in the way.

Yes, people are saying pads and the reaction time needed isn’t the best, I could use that but I’d be bullshitting.

Jesus this game is unforgiving, I’d say I die 10-15 times before any progression at all. It is stunning to look at though, how Skyrim hopefully will look if they do it again.

I’ve been playing an indie game called Loop Hero.

I suspect a low-frills version would have been possible on a C64 and it is a lot less complex than it looks.

Your character does a constant loop of the same track. As you encounter enemies, he will auto-battle them and they’ll either drop equipment or a tile card.

Equipment makes you harder and harder to kill. The tile cards can be placed on the map, which starts out black and ends up becoming like something you’d see nestling in the pages of Lord of The Rings.

Along with Elden Ring, I’ve got a few things going on with the Switch at the moment.

Most immediately, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. Dunno if anyone remembers, but this particular series started out in the mid 90s, long after the simian made his debut in his eponymous arcade game.

They were known at the time for being graphical marvels for the SNES. Rare used pre-rendered 3D for a lot of the graphics and it really did look the business.

These days, the graphics look is very much an affected one, but looks gorgeous. The game is also fucking hard as nails. I’ve been squeaking as it layeth down its difficulty upon me.

The Nintendo consoles always have a collection of bangers on them, but thanks to no-one apart from me buying the WiiU, the Switch has shitloads of great ports that’ll feel absolutely fresh to the unaware too.

@pap Where are you up to now on Elden Ring?

I’ve been in work mode for a bit but have had the occasional go. I’ve got through Stormveil but I haven’t beaten Godrick yet. I did find a very nice sword called Treebeard but you need 22 dex to use it so a bit of grinding is probably in order.

I’m level 71 and have some good weapons now but its still unforgiving.

You are probably just a little bit higher than I am at the moment. Think I am in the high seventies. Currently gearing to do Goldrick the Grafted - was able to get him into his second form, where he picks up a dragon and just fucking melds it into himself.

I don’t yet have the recipe for fire damage negation, so am nipping up to get that shortly.

I have also found two more sites of grace in the huge cavern underneath the tree and am looking to take out a boss there.
