Despite all the good times, he’s left a sour taste. I do feel sorry that he’s had his head turned by Mendes but ultimately his lack of loyalty showed through. Shame really, but we move on and should replace him with some quality - hopefully!
Thank fuck that bullshit is finished. It’s been an obvious problem since October. Goodbye, good riddance. Shame, but his choice and a laughable fee.
Now the important bit. The club said he wouldn’t go unless we had cover. Signing announced tomorrow or stephens promoted?
Personally, i think we had a deal arranged for the coming summer. Has this(if true, still only a figment of my imagination) been brought forward? Are we going to hope Stephens can step up until then? Or are we signing someone more senior? How about Gardos making a comeback? If we rely on this, Barry may have a point.
“I also have part of my family living in London and they are big West Ham fans. It just made sense for me at this stage to join West Ham,” he added.
Fuck off!!
Can’t agree with all of this, as he could have played at a much higher level when we were in league 1, but what a crappy way for a player like this to leave!
Let’s just reflect on this. He has not gone to Liverpool. He has not gone to Manchester United. He has not even gone to Everton. He has gone to West Ham United.
What a fucking twat.
Another cunt to the list…
It has been reported that we approached Liverpool for Sakho on loan but it was turned down.Liverpool want a permanent deal but I can not see anyone paying him what he is getting. Surely Liverpool don’t want him hanging around being paid for doing nothing. I would not be surprised if last minute we get him on loan till the end of the season. From Liverpool’s part it’s putting him in the shop window and if he does well someone might want him even if we do not.
I read that last night and I thought what a fucking twat!!
Clearly he was tapped up by Dr Barry Gale on behalf of big TomD …
Or so it could seem from Twitter.
Will Tom/Barry paint his Bentley for him now?
I had to chuckle at the picture of Fonte signing for WetSpam with pictures of Bobby Moore in the background. In your dreams Jose, in your dreams! According to Twitter Hammers fans are delighted with this signing and think he is a bargain. All I can say is their keeper needs to start practicing his penalty saving.
And let’s not have some knee jerk reaction the next time we concede a header - oh, we should never have let Fonte go etc…
He has been wobbly all season and didn’t want to play for us.
Whoever we put out, they are more committed to SFC than Jose was at the end.
_Adeus, meu amigo, tem sido uma grande aventura, aproveite seu dinheiro_
The Ugly have summed it up pretty well… http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/44855/#skipad
“I want to thank the manager, Les Reed, Ralph, Katharina – all of the staff and all of the board – for showing their trust and belief in me. I am extremely happy that they are giving me this opportunity to keep being in this great club, and I hope I can give back with good performances and by helping the club move forward. This is where I feel happy and where I’ve been very successful, so this is where I want to be and where I want to win.”
Perhaps Jose could work in some of these sentiments when writing his thank you letter to Southampton Football Club and all of its fans.
Any quotes and signs of appreciation yet? We must be foremost in his thoughts at this sad time.
Surely a list of people that aren’t cunts would be a lot smaller and less time consuming?
To be fair Jose has made a classy THANK YOU on Instagram…
Dear Saints fans A lot could be said, I could argue and disagree, I could go on all day but in the end what it really matters is the journey we have been together. We have been to Wembley and won, achieved promotion after promotion, great premier league seasons with records broken, European football…and the list goes on! Not for a moment I regret anything I did, because I have given my all every single day I have worn the Saints crest until the last second of my last training session! I have never rejected to play in any circumstances!! A lot has been said about me and my situation, most of it lacked any accuracy but we all know how the football business works! So now it’s time to say THANK YOU!!! To everyone without exception, even the ones who can’t accept it and don’t understand THANK YOU!!! I will take every single one of you in my heart and all the great memories! To all my team mates throughout the last 8 seasons thank you, for pushing me to be better, for inspiring me,for laughing with me for arguing with me and even fighting me I’m a better player because all of you made strive for greatness! A mention to all my managers to in Pardew, Adkins, Pochetino, Koeman and Puel for teaching me a lot in different ways! To all the staff at the club I hope I wasn’t much of a pain and i treated you with respect! Take care and we see each other out there soon. José Fonte
…so whatever you think of the sad ending and whether you think he’s made the right decision…at least he has had to good grace to thank those who gave the motivation to make his career a success.
He even thanks Osvaldo!
Nice farewell.
Thanks Jose, all the best to you - off the pitch.
… and just as I thought my opinion was clear cut and unwaivable, I read this.
Nice touch Jose, your agents got a good media man there !!
Just joshin’ … it’s good to hear this from him … Lallana take note
Matt le tiss just given away the real reason Fonte left. His comment ‘I never ask what my collegues are on before I sign my contract’ tells it all.
Not sure the wage structure but its pretty clear to me Fonte wanted to be at the top.
Im not sure how i feel about this. Im not sure I really care that much ,however I am sure I would be a lot more optimistic about the next few months if he had stayed and our bilionariers gave him a pay rise. it doesnt look at the moment we are going to replace with the same quality
Whoa, hold on a minute there, I’m all for sticking it to Fonte but if you look at MLT’s timeline he’s talking about Carl jenkinson’s move to Crystal Palace, not Fonte’s behaviour this season
