šŸ“½ Films I have seen

You get to see Meryl Streep’s Bum…

2hrs 23m of Jennifer Lawrence with a Mullet.

We just watched it. On first viewing I’ve got to say it’s easily the weakest of the Craig era by a very big margin. Moderately enjoyable in bursts, but at least half an hour too long. Action sequences and storyline both half-hearted and unconvincing, a preposterous villain in Rami Malek, (who I thought was superb in Bohemian Rhapsody,) redeemed only by a raft of really impressive back references to the Fleming books and previous scores, which I loved. Poor theme song though, one of the worst the franchise has produced.

I shall give it another whirl in a month or two to see if another viewing alters my initial opinion. But for me, on first viewing, 4/10.

Scarily plausible

Maybe another one.
Pig.

I shall return when I work out what its about

That actually looks faintly interesting. I met a few truffle hunters in southern Italy with the ex-wife, most had dogs but one had a truffle pig. Kidnapping or killing these animals by rival trufflers is unfortunately quite common if they’re good at the job, because truffles are so valuable.

Its 10 hours since the film finished.
Nope.
Still don’t know what it was about or at least what the point was.
But in shock news, Nicholas Cage almost acts in it.

Netflix.
Death to 2021.

The sequel to 2020. Same format. Same cringing

The Hangover.

Never seen it before, lmfao :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:
Proper bloke fodder, the bird’s away this week so I’m catching up with the library of juvenilia. And this film hits the sweet spot :+1::+1::smile:

I think it’s probably my favourite recent film.

Toppled the reign of The Big Short.

I should hate The Kingsman
It has so much not right with it.
Not least the Mike Myers impersonation for The Shepherd.
But it is actually a great film.
It is not in any sense a Kingsman film. Way darker than that.
Very enjoyable and way deeper

Haven’t seen this one yet. The first two films are excellent but I’ve heard critics moan about the tone. e.g. the bum sex gag in the firfst film.

It’s all a matter of opinion, but you must set your bar pretty low to describe the Kingsman films as ā€œexcellentā€. I’d have described them as ā€œwatchable shit, okay to pass an hour or two.ā€

I’d say they’re more entertaining than most James Bond films.

Oh dear.

Have you seen most James Bond films? Only a couple really hold up.

I’ve seen all of them. They’ve gone steadily downhill since Connery and the first two Moore ones, but I’d struggle to think of any that weren’t more entertaining than the Kingsman ones. The second Kingsman I thought was ok for effects but desperately poor in every other department. The Elton John kidnapping gag was about as feeble as it gets.

That’s being generous
