I like the first one just fine, but yeah it was probably quite dated by the time I saw it what with it being banned for ages. Brad Dourif tips the scales for me though, his performance is incredible and totally captivating considering heās only got about 10 minutes of screentime.
Edit: I also think I saw Repossessed before I saw The Exorcist so that may have skewed my impression of it, having being labelled the scariest film ever but when you get round to watch it you keep getting reminded of Father Mayii.
Love and Monsters.
Netflix
The Monsterpocalypse
Lots not perfect with it and it is stupid.
I love stupid.
I laughed
Surely The Dog must win best supporting actor
I do like a good rockumentary, and this one seems to be worth a watch when it is released. Did not know anything about Fanny when I was young, but seems like they paved the way for female rock bandsā¦Maybe we should all get into Fanny
Stow away.
Isnāt shit. But it isnāt Gravity.
Another Mars Mission goes wrong story.
It has a few holes. The how isnāt clearly explained - or it may have been mumbled.
The bleeding obvious takes forever to be addressed.
It is not going to waste your evening watching it but it isnāt gonna make you think (apart from the obvious holes.
Nomadland on the other hand, from last night, will be a worthy Oscar winner at the weekend.
An unusual style & feel & for someone hanging on from falling between the cracks in a Pandemic, poignant
A quite wonderful if depressing film that I am glad I watched.
Nomadland win 3 Oscarās last night.
It resonated with me because it is a film about falling between the cracks of the modern world.
The fall is simple, it is a story that will have been told a myriad of times, its retelling sets the tone of the film as being on the edge of despair but.
The story is never judgemental, it got some stick for not saying Amazon is a bad employer but those critics missed the point. Itās just another stop over.
So, the lead character now lives in āa white vanā. She has no great plan and rumbles around.
She meets people, some I recognised clearly actors.
But the strength of the movie is in her āchatsā with other Nomads. So powerful so deep, acting of the highest level. Really moving, almost filmed as reality TV.
Then the reveal and for me what made this stand out as an exceptional film. They arenāt actors.
These are real nomads, given fictional names, playing themselves. Incredibly powerful.
Unusual for me to rave about an āintellectualā film.
It is superb
It was originally a documentary about a small village just off the A36 between Salisbury & Southampton.
But the autocorrect went mad & it just escalated to a story about a Gypsum Factory in Empire in deepest nowhereville USA
Mrs P_F really enjoyed the new Tom Clancy/John Clark origin story - Without Remorse.
Old fashioned conspiracy theory action thriller with the Clancy stalwarts popping up.
Michael B Jordan letās his little finger act better than the rest of the ensemble while sleepwalking through but it wasnt shit, in fact it was watchable and possibly a start of the Rainbow 6 franchise
