šŸ“½ Films I have seen

It may seem odd for a man of my advanced years, but I have never seen a Godfather movie. Thanks to those lovely people at Sky Atlantic I have now managed to catch 1 & 2. Agree with the general view that 2 is the better movie. What was odd though was the lack of graphic sex and violence in a gangster movie. Shows how times have changed! Or how old I now am.

I’ve seen them loads of times. They are fantastic films - I just love the space they’re given to breathe.

There is a cut of both films called The Godfather Saga, which does the events in chronological order. Saw it on the BBC once. Would love to see it again.

Just when you got in, they pull it back out.

This is interesting. Godfather III, by no means a bad film, but nowhere near as arresting as the first two, is getting some treatment.

This version has Coppola’s intended title. The Death of Michael Corleone. The producers didn’t like the original ending.

This is an offer I probably won’t refuse. December 8th.

I picked up the dvd set some time ago, but still haven’t watched them. It’s on the list for when the bird’s out or watching some romcom nonsense.

That first film was a legendary production. Coppola did not have the clout he would soon enjoy. The producers spent a good deal of early production putting pressure on Coppola to fire Pacino!

They changed their minds after seeing one scene from a set of dailies; the restaurant scene. From that point on, Coppola never got any more shit, even though rumours persisted throughout production that he could be replaced at any time.

Anyway, get your arse in gear. Cultural references from about a million other films or TV shows will finally make sense.

Just ask @Sadoldgit

I’ve also got the Dirty Harry box set which I haven’t watched, care to comment?:smile::smile:

In all this confusion I’ve forgotten whether there’s 5 or 6 DVDs in the box set, well, do you feel lucky punk

First one is brilliant. Diminishing returns after that.

I have often described myself as the Dirty Harry of whatever programming department I’m in.

I get all the shitty jobs.

And do you know what? I fucking love it. There is nothing quite like taking down a loop-hittin’ mutha-procca in a T-SQL ghetto. Some code needs taking out! *

* I realise that this will perhaps be of amusement to one or two people apart from me. **
** Perhaps not even that

Are you even talking English? I understand some of the word and recognise all of the letters but have absofuckingloutely no idea what that all means…

You might know more than you think.

You’ve probably had to deal with at least one head blocker.

It’s marriage for most

Nope.

Work me through this

If it’s never been a problem you need no help from me

It’s the not understanding what the fuck you’re talking about is my problem

I get that a lot. Sorry @Cobham-Saint, not really targeted at you, although I am impressed you’ve never experienced a head blocker.

Most men have from time to time, irrespective of their technical understanding of the term.

Sotonians. Come for the largely unrequited promise of football chat. Stay for the obscure puns that only @BTripz seems to get

Someone has written some bad code in the structured query language used by SQL server, a contradiction in terms BTW, this bad code is getting stuck in a loop and is doing the same thing over and over again, this is causing bad shit to happen on the server.

@pap has gone in, like a modern day gunslinger, and has stopped the code looping and has saved the day (or system if you will)…yay , what a hero

I would say ā€œold schoolā€ gunslinger, just like Dirty Harry.

This young crop confuses the fuck out of me. A good deal of them are built like brick shithouses.

What’s their endgame? Becoming Avengers?

Yeah, the only muscle needed to code is head muscle…

I get that, so why not speak Engerlish?
