Back in the day I watched that at the âLymington Film SocietyââŚyou know the kind of thing, they circulate a list of movies and members cast votes for the coming season. Ipcress File was my favourite movie for quite a while along with âThe Trapâ, Oliver Reed and Rita Tushingham.
Thatâs interesting. I suppose youâd have only been about 50 or 60 then?
Cunt.
Truth always hurts
Unhinged - Russell Crowe fat and malevolent⌠will put you off road rage for life
Yeah saw that at the cinema, I donât beep at people anymore
Finally watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri whilst on holiday and really enjoyed it.
We also watched the Invisible Man - some issues with him being the quietest person ever but also enjoyed it. Not so much when we heard some noises in the kitchen and no one was there.
My missus, who only calls me a fucking cunt in real life, calls everyone a fucking cunt when sheâs driving a car!
The Outpost.
Claustrophobic, visceral, gripping and based on a book of a true story from Afghanistan
Some military moron thought it would be a good idea to put an outpost in the midst of mountains and pay the locals for projects.
In a way it is depressing as you simply know what is coming. Equally, the characters arenât the most lovable types so engaging with them isnât there.
But. This is a story that needed to be told. A modern day Rorkes Drift maybe.
A very good film. Scott Eastwood & Orlando Bloom realise they are playing real people and play it that way.
IF you watch it. Make sure you watch the credits to the end. The last few moments of those are incredibly powerful.
My ex used to do that, especially at roundabouts. Cars approaching from her right seemed to take exception to her blithely pulling out in front of them, no matter how hard I tried to explain the âgive way to your rightâ rule they were still fucking cunts, doubly so if they blew their horns at her.
After a bit of Crowded House - Four Matches in one day.
I re-re-re-watched Total Recall 2002.
Which reminded me I need to claim THE most random Name Drop badge ever.
Back in 2002, Damascus Saint ,& I took a client to our factory in Galway. On the way back, we had a night in Temple Bar Dublin.
In a crazy pub we had a random conversation with a local babe & her eeugh BFF.
Who turned out to be a celeb.
She had been the extra in said movie who ,(almost) recreated a moment from Arnies TR 1.
I remember only that âThe Clientâ did⌠He wa a party member.
Maybe explains what happened nextâŚ
Those were the daysâŚ
Shameless âIâve been thereâ memories.
Indiana Jones & the last crusade on TV.
As in REALLY been there.
Aeons ago, Trade Show in Amman, the Microsoft guys rented a car, we drove to Petra.
We had done our homework.
OK no bull whips, but we had Leather Jackets, Beige (work chinos) beige/khaki shirts and of course Aussie Bushman âCowbot style hatsâ
And. For the 1st & only time in my & the guys lives.we rode horses to âThe Templeâ.
Which was a lot smaller than in the movie, with no Crusaders & not a Nazi in sight.
It was " a bucket list moment".
Went to Petra twice more.
What a place what a movie. RIP Sean Connery. How could you be dead after imbibing from The Holy Grail?
Yeah, Iâm pickled but whata happy memory
Well, I believe that the everlasting life effects of the grail were only active within the seal.
Ah.
We had drunk beers.
We had broken the seal.
Explains a lot
Ooh
I am currently watching an Arnie film I have never seen before but thought I had (think I must have confused it with the one where he fights the devil?), âThe 6th Dayâ, canât say Iâm overly impressed, it looks and feels like a 90âs made-for-tv type film and Arnold seems to be phoning it in a bit even for him. 3/10.
I read that as AnnieâŚ
Sometimes the brain sees what it wants to see.
Indeed.
Greenland, a disaster movie that focuses less on the disaster and more on the human side, decent enough but swervableâŚ
