šŸ“½ Films I have seen

American Beauty.

Never seen it until now. Christ, what a film. Script, atmosphere, acting, storyline, dialogue, setting…the works. And what a finish.

I liked it.

Unrealistic. KS spends all his time inappropriately lusting after a girl.

And Fight Club was the better movie that year. It was robbed.

:smile::smile::smile:

I can tell you, when he was in the drive through window pointing out to his horrible wife that she will never get to tell him what to do ever again, I was cheering

I think Fight Club has a fuckload more memorable lesson for life.

The one that sticks with me is ā€œthe things you own end up owning youā€.

I still haven’t seen it. :joy::joy:

You’re in for a treat.

I would be interested in your thoughts. There was a big ol’ controversy back in the day when American Beauty beat this out at the Academy Awards for best film.

It’s David Fincher, FFS. The man cannot make a bad film, even if the studio tries its best. His only flop is Alien 3, and he was properly fucked over by the studio with that.

I genuinely do keep meaning to see it, the premise sounds intriguing. I shall return with a review.

The first rule of Fight Club is don’t admit to watching it.

I haven’t seen it.

Avatar 2 is finally here – and it’s like being waterboarded with turquoise cement

A critics review - lol

Completely enjoyed Enola Holmes 2 on Netflix.
Utter nonsense.
And it reminded me of an intimate moment when Helena Bonham Carter cut my hair before my 1st Hollywood Gay Porn movie appearance alongside Hugh Grant in the Merchant Ivory epic Maurice

Glass Onion is going strong on Netflix.

I used my dodgy provider to watch the original film in the series - Knives Out

Complete Nonsense. The WhoDunnit was obvious after 5 minutes. And then 25 then 50 and. Yeah actually all the way through
Except.
So. Apart from Daniel Craigs’ accent (which surely must have won a Raspberry) it is hugely watchable, go find it or DM for dodgy streaming site info

The Cheap Detective.

Peter Falk, in a glorious spoof of the Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and loads of other films from that era. Laugh out loud funny. Written by Neil Simon, need I say more.

Devotion.
The true story of Jesse Brown.
And, because I know many Sotonians like a bit of Piston Engine Porn, a sheer delight.
Jesse was the 1st US Navy Pilot of Colour.
He served in Korea.
The film low budget copies Top Gun Maverick with real flight scenes, and they got a Hangar load of old War Birds.
The 1st hour is story life telling. The rest is pure Piston Engine Porn.

I’m sick.
Cant work.
But I’m bored & until we clear up the Fungus / damp it’s making me worse.
So.
Tomorrow.
Should I Avatar 2 at the non 3D cinema or watch a dodgy SD stream?

In case any of you have yet to see the marvellous Vanishing Point, it’s about to start on Talking Pictures.

Netflix, Metal Lords - dysfunctional kids, great humour, heart warming and a perfectly timed ā€˜cuuuuunt’ - what’s not to like? Great acting by the 3 leads

Saw that ages ago.
Loved it

Watched Bullet Train on the plane. Surprisingly good! Also watched Children of Men the other day as preparation for our return to England

Review later.
But great lines addition.

You are capable of anything because you are so bad at everything

Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Currently in cinemas or dodgy links

Michelle Yeoh already won a Golden Globe and should win everything everywhere

The ONLY thing stopping Everything Everywhere All at Once from being the daftest greatest movie ever is that Jackie Chan isn’t in it. Instead it is simply genius stupidity
Thanks to MCU we have a basic concept of Multiverses this takes that to a level MCU could never reach.
Michelle Yeoh is superb.
The budget runs to an office, an apartment, a Laundromat and an alleyway and Dr Who esque Bluetooth headsets.
At the beginning it is a mix of subtitles English & Chinese but stay with it.
Innovative, simple, daft.
Genius
8.5/10
But that’s because I love Michelle & the Butt Plugs gag was a genius slow burner
Watch it
