They need to find a tech solution for that problem - happens a lot!

Thanks Bear, I will mention your name. I was worried Birmingham might be boring, but sounds like it could be a lively night out! :lou_lol:

Punching barmaids and turning down prostitutes. The world’s your oyster Lou.

And there it is…

the commentator in the England/Scotland game just came out with “Jodie Taylor is the first England player to score a hattrick in a major tournament finals”

Didn’t specify “female”! Get Mr Murray on the blower!

The sports presenter on the radio this morning said that she’d joined an elite club with Lineker and Hurst.

:lou_surprised: How dare he!

Their latest stunt is sending Katie Hopkins out on a boat with a bunch of far-right wingers (anti-semites, holocaust deniers, Hitler was good, actually types) with the intention of preventing rescue missions in the med.

So, she’s pretty much following through on her calls to machine gun/final solution.

Fuck respect, the Mail are fucking dangerous.

It is interesting the female readership of the Mail - so often on the tube you’ll see an attractive, smart-looking young (presumably) businesswoman and she’ll have her face buried in the sodding Mail on her Iphone.

I can sort of dimly begin to understand - women are beset with adverts telling them that their not thin enough, not pretty enough, having kids too soon, having kids too late and so on - and then along comes a paper saying “LOOK AT THIS CELEBRITY THAT EVERYONE THINKS IS REALLY PRETTY - HAHAHAHA SHE’S ACTUALLY GOT A SHIT TONNE OF CELULITE ON HER ARSE - CLEARLY DIDN’T EXPECT TO GET SNAPPED ON THE BEACH WITH HER FAMILY DID SHE LOLOLOL”

Its kinda grim but you can see why its a guilty pleasure for a lot of women.

Anyway

Let’s see what the Ying Yang Twins have to say about this issue

I think I said this on another thread, but The Mail seem to be trying to out Sun The Sun nowdays. More and more you see them both being mentioned together. Vile, both of them. Also both of them are the only papers of choice in my local greasy spoon transport cafe. Says it all!

The are, but as Tramps points out The Mail is the more like women’s version of The Sun. I still don’t see the Mail in transport Cafes tho v.often, but that’s prob cos you don’t so often see women in them either. It is still more Sun & Star in Greasy Spoon.

I think Mr T (correct me if I’m wrong) was referring to the Mail Online, and the so-called ‘sidebar of shame’ (not my term).

I see your point, but I still don’t think it is particularly helpful. There’s still plenty of subliminal “you should hate your bodies, and yourselves” being pushed.

Not to mention the rank hypocrisy of it half the time, stories about ‘disgusting paedo’s’ next to ‘stories’ about teenage tv stars being papped on a beach in a bikini, or just outright fetishing young celebrities.

The whole thing is pretty gross.

Mmm definitely. We’ve disagreed on many things but this isn’t one of them.

She, actually*.

I use the term sports presenter and you immediately assume it’s a man.

Shame on you.

That’s the problem with you old people.

You get past, say 51, and you just can’t imagine a world that isn’t peopled with versions of you.

*OK, yeah, it was a bloke, but you didn’t know that. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Bragg versus The Sun - round 1.

It says here that the Unions will never learn
It says here that the economy is on the upturn
And it says here we should be proud
That we are free
And our free press reflects our democracy

Those braying voices on the right of the House
Are echoed down the Street of Shame
Where politics mix with bingo and tits
In a strictly money and numbers game

Where they offer you a feature
On stockings and suspenders
Next to a call for stiffer penalties for sex offenders

It says here that this year’s prince is born
It says here do you ever wish
That you were better informed
And it says here that we can only stop the rot
With a large dose of Law and Order
And a touch of the short sharp shock

If this does not reflect your view you should understand
That those who own the papers also own this land
And they’d rather you believe
In Coronation Street capers
In the war of circulation, it sells newspapers
Could it be an infringement
Of the freedom of the press
To print pictures of women in states of undress

When you wake up to the fact
That your paper is Tory
Just remember, there are two sides to every story

Was bound to happen sooner or later. Fear not, I’m sure we’ll be back to normal soon enough :lou_wink:
