We’re a good Championship side at the moment, nothing more. We were playing what is currently the top club in the top division. I’m genuinely surprised that we matched them in general playing quality for at least half of that match. The best finishers in the world don’t go to second tier sides, they’re in the highest demand and go to the highest bidders, which we will never be. But yes, if we’d only taken those chances…

It was very disappointing but also encouraging

On reflection, one thing I’ve been wondering about this season is how our new possession based play-it-out-from-the-keeper style would hold up when exposed to a PL team.

The more I think about last night, the more reassured I feel about that. We passed our way through them far more comfortably than I’d expected.
