EU - In or Out? The big vote 23rd June 2016

Personally, I think ones vote should only count if you can explain your rationale on the ballot paper. Not so much democratic, but the problem with democracy is that every fuckwit, racist, thick as shit, ignorant dumb fuck gets to vote… and yes this vexes me gven that it will effect the outcome… am I being a little right wing/harsh on this point?

I know what you mean, any electoral system in which I am allowed a vote, is fatally flawed. They may as well toss coin srs.

I don’t understand what you are proposing then?

If we have been bullied by France and Germany, and Saudi Arabia and China for years, and are effectively lapdogs for the US who have already said we will be less appealing to them if we leave. What does ‘standing up for yourself’ entail?

Spending our dinner money on sweets before they can get to us? :lou_lol: Fuck knows really.

No they won’t as they have been there before the change, there will be a date and thereafter we may have to apply for visas.

Cool thats a job I have longed to have…

Having the balls to say we are strong enough to go it alone, they all want us in the EU for their own NATIONAL interests not the EU’s. Trade tariffs shouldn’t scare us at all, why should they as it works both ways and we also will have a bigger market to choose from, its all fantasy.

That pair of cunts have been bullying us for years KRG! They just leave us a bit of our dinner money to give to Brussells! Maybe it’s time we stood up for ourselves!

True as that may be, these are the people we are being told we will be able to trade with (not that we can’t anyway) if we unshackle ourselves from the EU.

Even if our friends go through with their threats, least then it’s an arrangement you can take or leave.

What is standing up for ourselves? Complete isolation?

Making your own law, doing your own trade deals, buying more off each other instead of abroad.

How on earth are you concluding that “complete isolation” is our default state? There hasn’t been a single point in history when that has been the case.

I have to agree with Pap, why would friends make threats? They should say they welcome a democratic vote in the EU, more that most get in Brussels…

Given that we are being told that we haven’t got a cats chance in hell of negotiating a trade deal any with any country on our own where we only have to worry about our own interests, why do people think we can re negotiate our membership of the EU effectively when we have to take into account the interests of 27 other nations.

We always get vetoed, its a club that did not want us (it wanted our money and cheap trade), liberals can say we are European and its lovely a notion but we aren’t, most people think they are British first, I do certainly, the EU is not Britiains friend and seeing this threats makes it quite obvious how nice the liberal regime actually is once it may not get its way.

Abhor the EU.

…which is somewhat ignorant of the fact that ‘British’ are in effect a rathersplendid concoction of Saxons (Germans), Angles, French (Normans), Roman legacy, various Scandinavians (fair ennough not true Europeans, but still close enough to illustrate the point),and a some celts thrown in for good measure…some might even siggest we are as a result ‘more’ European than many of the others given how we are this blend of many of them… I hear we are ‘not European’ frequently, but unsurprizingly ALWAYS in the the context of anti EU dogma, and always from those that dont ‘want’ to be considered ‘European’… its like they think if they repeat it often enough, it might become true…

…now what does that remind me of?

Bazza, to be fair, has said before, “love Europe, hate the EU”

He has indeed, but he also states ‘‘can say we are European and its lovely a notion but we aren’t, most people think they are British first , I do certainly’’

Barry has form for posting links to some unsavoury sites on SWF… its why I find his ‘protesting’ a tad too much…

To say we are British first European second is fair enough, that is just a point of view.

Sotonian First. :lou_lol:

Yes its beautiful isn’t it, people comin together and finding their own idendity after invasion. If you want to discuss our history and and bloodlines I am more than happy to, we are not European, that what trust upon us, when did we become European first and British second, and when did this happen legally? If the Turkish are successfu on entry in to the EU are they European?

We are apart from Europe in many way Mr Gay Abandon but please do tell me concerning our bloodlines and I’ll tell you about Norman occupation, the Normans and their bloodlines aren’t French to start with but carry on boy.

The man is lost in a sea of froth, confusion and thick EU coffee…

I love Europeans,(fuck that I love people not a title)and have many friends from all over the shop, disliking the EU is completely different to disliking a person, only an inbred bellend wouldmake that comparison.

Speak as you find, thats a mantra I have had for years, my wedding was cool, my ushers and best man besdie my brother were a Catholic from Cork, a Protestant from Belfast and an atheist from Cheshire.

I travelled for too long to be a total arsehole.
