Waokes maybe but I wouldn’t bring Broad back, we’re supposed to be building a team for the future not relying on older bowlers who, and lets be fair, takes wickets in short spells that are becoming, increasingly, further apart.

Broad can take wickets but when he’s not he leaks runs…never been a huge fan of him.

Archer went home to Brighton instead of heading straight to Manchester, so he’s dropped.

Similar drizzle to last week. Delayed start.

Windies win toss & field.
Broad Woakes & Curran play

FFS Bumble.
Goes on about giving the spinner one over b4 lunch for ages.
Spinner comes on. 2nd ball gets Burns LBW 15
Review lost as well, he was plumb
29-1 what a waste nothing was happening out there.

Commentators since 2016 we need players that can occupy the crease & battle in difficult conditions.
Commentators Sibley has got bogged down has to be more expensive.
Phil you fvcktards he scored more than Stokes in their 50 partnership.
Ball is swinging, seaming spinning & sticking in the pitch. Tactics are spot on by England
Scoring graphics did die of boredom though

159-3

Shannon Gabriel comes into the attack looking very stiff.
Nips one away & Holder drops a simple slip catch.
Phew

Really good effort by Stokes & Sibley. Could easily been bowled out for a low score
Still could be all out 250 but we have a platform now

First hour of day 2 and no wickets lost

England 229-3, Sibley 90*, Stokes 75*

There, I’ve just cursed them

How’s stat?!

Andy Zaltzman

Test Match Special statistician

Dom Sibley has scored four runs from 39 deliveries this morning.

Sibley 100 up form 312 balls, 5 slowest England centurion since 1990

Atherton has 4 slower, Hussain has the slowest.

Excellent morning for England, that. I’m guessing they’ll look to push up the scoring rate a bit after lunch, but they still need to make the bowlers work for their wickets. Looking like Sibley, Burns and Crawley could be the top three for a few years to come - can’t think of the last time England had a properly settled top order.

Tremendous effort.
Could still be bowled out for under 300 but runs on the board on a tricky pitch and plenty of time in the game.
Wearing down the bowling attack in back to back tests after so long off is pretty handy as well.
Hurdle onwards accelerate after tea.
Or be bowling by then…

Sibley survives an LBW call, given not out by the Umpire, review and ball tracking shows it might have hit the bails so ā€œUmpire’s Callā€.

Mikey saying Buttler should be sent out next and told to bat like it’s an ODI and up the run rate…

Windies not doing well with their reviews today

3 LBW appeals given not out, 3 reviews, 1 lost missing wickets, 2 retained due to Umpire’s call.

Stokes looking to up the run rate, he’s overtaken Sibley now

Stokes 128* (289)
Sibley 117* (357)

310-3

Stokes brings up his 150 - he’s definitely looking to pump up the volume now.

What sorcery is this?337-3
Some biffing happening

This is great viewing. Fascinating to watch Sibley being asked to do what is effectively a middle-order job.

You just had to say that…
Sibley hoicks straight to the fielder at cow corner
341-4
Collapse still on
