Balls
It was 37 balls ffs
41-0 and rain stops play
STFUā¦
Looking at the replays that was an absolute sitter for a keeper, Jimmy must be tearing his hair out. I like Buttler and I would keep him in as a batsman, but it has to be faced that his wicketkeeping is nowhere good enough at test level. Compare him with Rizwan who is light years ahead, a proper gloveman.
Did a lot of analysis. Seam position moving after the edge causing it to suddenly dip etc.
But it was a sitter
1.15pm: Still raining at the Ageas, and it looks like a lot of water has fallen. There are puddles forming around the covers and I suspect the clean-up operation will take quite some time (when it does begin)
1.25pm: It has stopped raining , and the umpires are out having a look. You can tell the outfield is pretty sodden
1.32pm: There will be an inspection at 2.20pm , so long as thereās no more rain (and the forecast does suggest there could be some more to come). Anyway, sit tight, weāll keep you informed of any developments
Drove from Horndean to Bishopstoke a bit earlier - came through some downpours that were positively tropical in their intensity. Even if thereās no more rain, that outfield will be sodden if itās rained like that on West End.
I was out on a short bike ride during the same and whilst it stopped enough to allow me to get home, itās very dark and spitting here again now.
Not much out here on the NW side of town, certainly not tropical. It usually rains here about 20 minutes before it gets to West End.
3.10 pm: We have news - Play will re-start at 3.45 pm. 52 overs remain, and play can go on till 7.30 pm.
Oh, excitement, we have an appeal for LBW, given out by the onfield umpireā¦
Reviewed, looked like it was missing by a mile to me however ball tracking gives it as out on Umpireās call.
49-1
Oh, Broad took the wicket BTW
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
And a wicket for Anderson, wicket 599
LBW given ourt on the field, reviewed, Umpireās Call⦠Holding is going to have a meltdown soon, he hates Umpireās Call with a passion
I canāt believe that worked!
3pm: The umpires are out again, checking the āareas of concernā around the bowlersā run-ups. Stay tunedā¦
3.10pm: Another inspection at 3.35pm
3.38pm: Umpires inspecting again. āThe area of concern would appear to be somewhere towards the cover boundary, in front of the groundstaff shed,ā
3.45pm: Inspection at 4pm, with a view to playing at 4.15pm - it is ON, people!
It is on people, 42 overs to bowl them out and for Jimmy to get at least 1 wicketā¦oh and for no more rain, pleaseā¦
Wicket 600 for Jimmy Anderson, at last.
Extra bounce and a wayward fend edges the ball to by puched by Root
Azhar Ali gone for 31
109-3
