Stumps Day 3 10-2

Windies need 389 runs, England need 8 wickets and no rain…

Think Root has made the right choices today…

West Indies finish the third day on 10/2, chasing an entirely theoretical 399. I wouldn’t expect this game to last anywhere near one further day, let alone the two that are available (weather permitting). And Karate Kid Broad is just one away from his 500th Test wicket.

Nice.

Judging by this batting they could have forfeited and put them straight back in.

Dont bother.
Pissing down.
Big band of Apocalyptic rain passing through, clearer behind if can dry everything out later

Inspection at 3pm.
Very wet one more shower to pass then radar showing clear

Called off for the day

And we’re playing for the day, small rain delay and then they’re back out again, Broad strikes to get his 500th test wicket.

Brathwaite LBW for 19

Hope skies one off of a Woakes short ball, Broad yells for it and safely pouches it

Hope gone for 31, 71-4

Woakes strikes again, inside edge straight to the keeper

Brooks gone for 22, 79-5

Another wicket for Woake (his 101st BTW)

Holder gone for 12, 99-7

Huge wicket that

Woakes again

Dowrich LBW for 8

117-8

and Cornwall soon joins him after putting up toekn resistance

a Michelle for Woakes

Cornwall LBW for 2

119-9

Broad back into the attack, gets Blackwood with his first ball.

That’s 501 wickets, 10 in this match.

129 all out, England win by a load and reclaim the Wisden Trophy.

Fuck me, seen the weather there now? Got away with that I feel.

The most poignant and moving series I think I can remember as well, Mikey Holding is a simply a superb dignified human being.

So did we time it just about right?

Yes but I bet they don’t take that risk again, it was too close and people have already said the same thing I’m saying.

England v Ireland ODI at my home of cricket.
