Hmmm, do I believe this from the Huffington Post??
Junior doctors’ union leaders wanted to “draw out” the strikes with Jeremy Huntover new pay and working conditions, a leak of their WhatsApp messages has revealed.
Senior executives in the British Medical Association (BMA) exchanged messages saying they wanted “punctuated [industrial action] for a prolonged period” and to tie “the DH [Department of Health] up in knots for the next 16-18 months”.
Weekend pay was “the only real red line” for junior doctors, according to the messages, despite the BMA insisting it was about patient safety.
The Health Service Journal revealed Junior Doctors Committee (JDC) chair Dr Johann Malawana wrote to colleagues that the “best solution” to his long-running feud with Hunt might be playing out the dispute for so long it would “force” the government “to impose [the contact] against our support”.
The allegations about the BMA’s plans for dealing with NHS medics’ contract negotiations run contrary to previous statements.
The thing is with this is that the Huffington Post has unilaterally supported the doctors and the BMA throughout this, so I’m surprised that they are reporting it in all honesty.
As I have said without exception on this thread, the BMA only disagreed about pay, and that is what the strikes were about. Turns out, after much indignation and ridicule at my opinion that, shock horror, I was right.
Turns out Jeremy wasn’t the only Cunt in this situation.
I’d be pretty angar if i was Jr Doctor and I’d lost two days pay striking to save NHS when these cunts weren’t even trying to cut a deal & told me pack of lies bout what was happening. I wonder if the Jr Doctors can sue union for loss of earnings?
You’re not doing very well. You started out in favour, bought the government account as soon as it was plastered all over the news and have obviously ignored the best content on this thread.
A few days ago, Cherts was knocking the BMA, calling them liars and suchlike. This was all based on an interview with Radio 5Live, that went out during their DriveTime show. A link exists on this thread.
I ended up getting a little narked, and as it turned out, I ended up listening to the show to determine how close Cherts’ remembered account was to the record, posting my findings here. None of the doctors called the BMA liars, although all said that both sides had produced some misleading, one-sided information. That’s par for the course in industrial disputes, imo.
Turns out that one of these junior doctors, the most critical, doesn’t actually have any junior doctoring professional experience. He’s about to embark on his first year of work under the new contract.
How the fuck did this guy get picked for the interviews?
Why is this in the news?
“I’m an FY1 doctor, with a huge interest in politics and healthcare policy”. What is “FY1”? Ah well. “FY” stands for Foundation Year: Adam Dalby is in his first year after graduating, but has not yet acquired sufficient experience to be let loose on his own. He’s the kind of doctor you might find “sitting in” with registrars or consultants when you visit the local hospital’s outpatients’ department.
Worse, he appears not to have set out on that road just yet. The_Telegraph_ and Sun have effectively admitted that when they tell “He is shortly to move to Yorkshire, where he will work under the Government’s new contract”. Will work. But not “does work” or “has worked”. But he is an “associate consultant” to “a boutique consulting firm based in Northern Ireland” specialising in “leadership, personal productivity, team productivity, customer service excellence, communication & engagement”.
Moreover, “Adam was the Lead of the Communications/Think Tank Workstream at the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management’s (FMLM) Medical Student Group (MSG) and has previously been the Transitional Lead of the Recruitment and Engagement Workstream”. But he appears to have zero experience as an actual junior doctor.
I honestly don’t know what the fuck Cherts is gloating about. His slam dunk is a WhatsApp leak, the contents of which have been completely superceded by events ( e.g. the DH not imposing and not being tied up for years ).
He’s scored points, though. Would be a good golf score.
Cherts, I agree. Pap can be an arse if folk don’t agree with him. An annoying dismissive one at that (hence why I rarely bother).
There are seven elephants waiting for you in the EU room, KRG.
Seven elephants. Not forecasts, not prognostications of doom. Actual facts that you refuse to engage with.
That said, you are still a million miles off the mark. Just put down the shovel ffs.
But he’s found a WhatsApp message which indicates that imposition is going to happen and that the Department of Health is going to be tied up for years!
That’s obviously happened, so Cherts is obviously 100% correct
Well this is all very sad. I find it hard to respond without getting emotional to be honest. That may come across as precious or pathetic but its true. As Ive said before and I’m sure KRG will back me up , anyone that works at ANY level in the NHS would be the same.
The picket lines were staffed not only by juniors but seniors, nurses, ODAs, clerical staff, community nurses and even some management locally. Did they do that to get a few extra quid per hour for the juniors? - no. the reason has been endlessly restated so i won’t go over old ground again. We have had loads of pay issues in the past and our pension is now an utter joke - did we strike about that ? No.
We took action because for the first time what was being put forward was going to have a direct effect on the patients and the future of the whole institution. We took action because in truth that is the only thing any of us really care about. Nobody enters any caring profession at any level for the money - believe it or don’t but its a fact.
If you look hard enough will you find twats on both sides , yes of course you will. Finding a few idiots doesn’t prove everyone else wrong. the exception that proves the rule is a phrase most would use.
If you still don’t belive me just ask yourself one simple question - why would I lie? What possible gain would I have from lying about this ? What possible ain would the juniors the nurses the ODA the cleaners the canteen staff the drivers by allpeddaling the same lie?
We all work 7 days a week 24 hours a day in any case so its not about working more.
I’m not projecting that onto the Junior Doctors and I am 100% sure that they thought they were striking for the reasons given to them by the BMA. However, as said numerous times, the BMA has consistently misrepresented the contract that was put on the table, and the reason the strikes took place, ie. the BMA recommended the strikes due to Saturday pay, and nothing more.
This is, and has, always been about the BMA and the misrepresentation of the Governments contract to the Junior Doctors, so I’m not sure where I have called you a liar?
The BMA engineered strikes as they couldn’t agree on Saturday pay.
They presented to the Junior Doctors/Doctors that the strike was due to patient safety and unworkable nature of a 7 day NHS, as they knew that the Doctors would not strike over pay.
