No longer indomitable…
The only thing that could get me and my mates to read when we were little. Used to love going down to the school library during English lessons and getting Asterix books out. Happy days.
I remember reading a load of the Asterix books in French when I was on an exchange thingy one time. The one where he’s in Britain was brilliant - far funnier in French than the translated version.
Are we still allowed to read those after brexit?
Alan Merrill has died, age 69.
No, me neither. But he co-wrote I Love Rock’n’roll, and recorded it long before Joan Jett hit the charts with it, as a B-side with his 70s group The Arrows (Touch Too Much was their big hit.)
BBC News - Comedian Eddie Large dies, agent confirms
From when TV was great and comedians were funny…
I am genuinely in awe at how he keeps his cool here. He’s like a Zen master.
Isn’t the guy in the suit a young David Tennant?
Don’t think so, but the woman is definitely Rebecca Front.

Agreed, he held together well and even threw in a few gags
It’s been confirmed that Eddie was Corona’d. It didn’t mention that in the first report I read.
He had progressive heart failure though which is a pretty nasty would have killed him…
If it hadn’t been for Covid-19, how many years would he have got?
He had a heart transplant at Papworth in, I think 2010. Gave him a good few years, but he had been very ill recently.
Not sure of the point you’re making here?
It was an attempt at humour. Sorry you missed it.
Not such a Lovely Day
My ever-loving wife just told me. Great shame - loved his stuff. RIP Bill.
