Dear old George was a meat and potatoes old fashioned goal poacher. His heyday was between 1960 to '66. Totally reliable, no fancy dan stuff just put the ball in the back of the net with monotonous regularity. Travelling up to home games on the coach from Lymington during that time we had a regular goal scorer sweepstake. The perennial cry was, “Right then, who’s got George”

He was a very nice lad - one of my Welsh mates was friends with him, and we spent an evening out with him after a Cardiff v Sunderland game (think it was the same day we did Wolves 6-0 at their place, the Saganowski one). Had a cracking time (although Kevin Campbell is a prick).
Very sad news.
