Very very sad news. He was a very funny guy, will probably be remembered for his comedy stuff but his straight roles absolutely put that into the shade, who remembers Tutti Frutti? Coltrane played a Little Richard type boogie woogie piano player in a Scottish rock n roll band called The Majestics, the early 80s, just superb, If he’s remembered for nothing else this will be good enough for me. Maybe Scotty would appreciate it, also the noble Lord Slowlane.RIP Mr Coltrane.

He was excellent in one of my favourite films, Let It Ride, with Richard Dreyfus. I also think he pulled off a bit of a coup by convincingly portraying a Bond villain with a dodgy accent.

I’ve got long memories of Mr Coltrane. I think I first saw him as the bouncer in an episode of The Young Ones doing a cockney accent, iirc.
Cracker is brilliant. Everyone should watch it once. I’m planning on watching it with my youngest, into her crime stuff. I think she’ll be blown away.

The Killer has been killed by death. That he made it to 87 is a wonder in itself. One of the greats, and a brilliant interpreter of songs - if in doubt, check out his rendition of Hank Williams’ “You win again”.

Some states in the US still have some strange laws regarding legal and illegal sex. For instance bestiality is legal in five states, incest is legal in at least four states. I think the official legal age has been updated relatively recently to 16 from 13 in some states, although in some deep south areas a blind eye is cocked and child marriage is still not unusual. It’s said in Alabama a virgin is defined as a girl who can run faster than her cousin!
