⚰ Death

That’s very sad. Oddly enough, I’ve just finished reading an early biography of him, really interesting book.

Bit of a maniac. Most of his big successes were achieved in spite of him.

Does this mean I am never going to get that refund on the ZX81 that he sold me ?

Mate worked at his R&D facility in Winchester mid 80s.
I visited and we worked on miniturising the circuits in his design for a combined cable free phone that was a landline AND a mobile. He was a few years ahead of Nokia.
Never got the funding for production prototypes.

Whatever happened to the phone that actually did that? Think it was called the Rabbit, it connected to your landline and switched to a mobile network as soon as you’re out of landline range.

That’s just what she told you it was for.

Now you mention it, the dial tone was a very loud buzzing sound…

No ring tone either, just several vibrate modes…

The latex covering made it waterproof, right?

Just to put an end to this tasteless innuendo…

Gutted for him. I had a ZX81 and a ZX Spectrum - many many hours of entertainment and programming (not very well in my case) were thanks to him.

Tbf, it does help if you can press the fucking keys on a computer while programming.

I’ve linked this before - well worth a a view. I’ve also seen a video with the key people saying how much of it is true. Much of it is.

Couldn’t have picked a more apposite day to snuff it. Spurs v Chelsea.

A great finisher to the end.

I’m assuming that the obligatory minute’s applause is a given. :unamused:
