I was going to say the same thing. Not sure who this fella is/was.
Robert Alan Altman (February 23, 1947 – February 3, 2021) was an American lawyer and video game executive. He worked as a lawyer in Washington, D.C. and was involved in a scandal surrounding the Bank of Credit and Commerce International. In 1999, he and Christopher Weaver founded ZeniMax Media as the parent holding company for Bethesda Softworks, a video game developer Weaver had founded earlier. Altman served as ZeniMax Media’s chief executive officer and chairman until his death. He was also a member of the advisory board of the George Washington University Law School.[1]
But despite all that he achieved what we all dreamt of in the day…
He married Wonder Woman
I bet she moaned to him about doing the chores.
He’s “the most honorable person she ever had the privilege to know.”
Coincidentally, he was also involved in the BCCI scandal.
Hmmm. A bit of arse-covering by the caped crusader?
My post was intentionally crass as a counter to the fawning that had come before it, but the sentiment expressed was basically genuine.
I disagree about the impact he had, most people were already fully aware of the NHS’s chronic underfunding issues and the threat of privatisation. IMO he has rather helped to promulgate the misconception that the government can’t raise its own money and that it is not a political choice to underfund the NHS.
I can’t reply to the comments here as I would really wish. Self censorship as @pap mentioned is a real issue.
What the guy in Lanark allegedly wrote was simply a hyperbolic expression of what were likely his genuinely held views for which he could likely provide justification that many people would sympathise with. As I understand what he said may have been deliberately misconstrued by the police as a threat of violence but that is not clear from what has been made public.
Based on what I have read I don’t see any justification for his arrest and that makes me very uncomfortable.
One less Trump fan.
I saw that earlier and though shall I post it and thought…meh.
I feel for the family left behind. Not good for them when you lose someone.
The US website on which I moderate had a bunch of stuff removed yesterday…mostly of the “Glad he’s gone” type sentiment.
Today is the first anniversary of the death of Father of C_S
RIP Dad
Yep sometimes anniversaries can be real pissers.
The great U-Roy, toasting genius, has died. This actually makes me sadder than Saints’ current form.
For the uninitiated, here’s the Melodians singing “You have caught me baby”:
And here it is again with added U-Roy:
Aye, I posted a tune on the Listening to thread, but not on here as I didn’t think anyone would have heard of him. Should’ve thought of you.
This is sad, 65 is no age these days.
Glenn Roeder: Former West Ham and Newcastle manager dies aged 65 -
