:covid_19: 😷 🏥 Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

He pays all the taxes the unemployed do.

Unless he’s changed the habit of a lifetime.

My thinking exactly. Gaia at work :sunglasses:

I note that this story has reached the pages of Private Eye :+1: :+1:

Lol.
Official Polish Government advice.
Go out, buy 2 weeks of food, water, stuff like pasta so if need be you can be safely self quarantined.
Actually TELLING the masses to panic buy!
I will of course do the same later.
Not pasta we have plenty. Water we have a Well.
I’m thinking pure essentials.
Beer & Vodka

Self medication to go with the self isolation. Liking your thinking there.

I think everyone on this forum will acknowledge that we’ve never seen anything like the reaction to Covid-19.

Italy’s schools are closed until March 15th.

A Conservative government is offering sick pay from day one to anyone that has to self-isolate.

I am worried for my older relatives.

Unless they’re going to pay my day rate, I won’t be self-isolating.

You’ll be popular with your co-workers, plague carrier.

Well, it won’t really matter as I assume they’d be self-isolating…

Ignoring the panic it isn’t a good time to travel.
Many countries are implementing automatic 14 day quarantine fiorcpassengers coming from infected countries. Malta & Qatar most obvious.
Meant a panic today with my group of 2 young couples. Frantic googling after a person who arrived in a car from Germany and interacted with nobody became Polands 1st victim.
The disappointing news is Italy - they are playing football behind closed doors. If that happens here the dippers could still win the EPL.
(Althoughthe rest of the football pyramid would be liquidated from the lack of income)

I’ve had flashbacks today to that old an classic 1975 BBC TV Show. Survivors

Not sure how much salt I should take with the source of the data but they show an interesting picture.

Indeed. As my mum (93 in a couple of weeks) said to me this evening, if either she or my dad (92 in a week) get this one it’ll almost certainly see them off. Then again, at their age they don’t exactly go out much (or, in my dad’s case, at all).

The death rate figures for the elderly and those with existing or underlying conditions does appear quite high (upto 7-8%) however, at this stage death rates can still be misleading as they are still biased towards the early victims in china when it was not yet understood and effective treatment was not available to all. We also don’t know how many people carry the virus yet never develop any symptoms, so actual death toll/Rate will not be fully understood for some time

As mentioned previously, Flu kills 600-8000 mostly elderly folks every year in this country yet we don’t have reliable figures on exactly how many have flu each year - not just heavy colds etc so is it worse? It certainly seems to spread easily which is the biggest concern … BUT masks are designed to keep your own germs in NOT others out. It’s more about hand washing.

Hospital workers should have the masks as they are high risk of spreading but everyone else clearing the shelves are not really reducing their infection risk.

It would fuck up their victory parade, always a silver lining and all that.
