5-6 days, though omicron may be a bit quicker, before symptoms show. Can be infectious for 2/3 days before feeling symptoms.

Two days incubation before symptoms show, although the virus can be passed on from day one. Some may be asymptomatic for the full time of infection. Infectious for about a week.

Pay £35 for a test. If positive, pay £70 for a PCR Test.
Then everyone quarantine no sick pay
Obviously they want everyone to get it.

The UKHSA estimates that someone with Omicron is between 31% and 45% less likely to attend A&E and 50% to 70% less likely to be admitted to hospital than an individual with the Delta variant.
However, Dr Harries warned there was much that is still unknown about Omicron.“We don’t yet know what the average length of stay for an individual is in a hospital,” she said.
“We’re not seeing very significant rises in intensive care utilisation or in the use of ventilation beds. Now that may be because a lot of the people who’ve been infected to date are actually younger people and we will see that coming through.”
But if the severity of the disease is actually “significantly lower than Delta” then some of the impact on the NHS may be less severe, she added.

At the current daily case rate (circa 100,000), in less than two months, every man woman and child in the country could, theoretically, have Covid.
There are computations, I am sure, which revolve around about 20,000,000 folk getting reinfected on a revolving cycle, until eventually no one notices what the daily cases are or what the numbers mean.
Come on you statisticians - explain it all to us simple folk.
Crazy system but Mrs P_F finally got her PCR Test done today.
Results back tomorrow.
Good news is thanks to 3rd jab I do not have to quarantine just need to do a test Sunday afternoon IF she is positive

Tbh with a 04:45 alarm for a tour to Auschwitz tomorrow I really do wish quarantine was automatic…
