:covid_19: 😷 🏥 Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

I did post about the problems Mrs TB had, when after declaring all her allergies (including penicillin!), she was eventually given Pfizer (after 2 AZs) after much consultation and reference to higher authorities. She did have a minor reaction to the Pfizer, but after 10 minutes was fine.
In the initial discussions, they did say (on Sat morning) that they might have to ask her to come back the following Weds for AZ - she said that would be fine (we live 5 minutes away from vaccination centre). But they decided to carry on - presumably because Pfizer on top of AZ gives better cover.
I think Pap has been incorrectly treated, and basically short changed!!!

Here is a basic explanation - this is not my specialist field.
Each vaccine is set up to present your immune system with a bunch of recognition sites from the virus. The Pfizer shot results in a different set of sites than the AZ or the Moderna. If you have shots of both then your immune system is primed to recognise more virus sites, so your immune system has greater chance of recognising the virus when it shows up even if some of the sites have mutated.

Yep - we had already decided to crack on with the six of us irrespective of what was coming down the pipe

We are all treble dosed - lat flows on the day - minimal risk - adult choice

We’re on our own over Christmas…we were going to SiL’s for Christmas Dinner but she’s got pneumonia and not going to be well enough for the rigours of catering.

Will probably join the staff in their quarters at Slowlane Mansion. I haven’t been down in the basement for nearly 12 years but they say they’ve made it quite homely…by third world standards.

Pretty much cancelled Christmas.
Working until 24th afternoon & stupid early on 26th.
Not even at home this week and supermarkets wouldn’t take orders for Turkeys, all gone to you lot.
I did find a Turkey Carcass in Lidl basically the Breast had been taken for Turkey Crowns but was still stupid expensive.
If I get time & find one, will try get a Beef Ribeye roast and a small tree but I have plonk, port & Stilton, Mince pies & Xmas Pudding so tbh not that bothered

Also 1 Covid case at Mrs P_F’s work,3 others now off with high temps, Mrs P_F been on Aspirin all day as she aches all over…
Triffick

Hang on, I’m not home & she aches all over…

Some odd data for you.
2 weeks ago our region was hitting 2500 new cases a day about 60 deaths
Last week about 1500 cases and about 40 deaths.
Today 824 new cases and 26 deaths.
We got our 1st Omicron case today, I don’t doubt that will rise.
But.
It’s almost as if the virus has cycles.
Which doesn’t fit certain positions

…or it runs out of suitable victims as the low-hanging fruit gets infected? Those most susceptible to the new strain?

Is a LAMP the same as a home test kit, or something different??

They are saliva tests not LFT

https://lantern.nhs.uk/

The supporting info on the efficacy of the tests on the Govt website is a year out of date btw.

We’re DOOMED!!!

Don’t worry, we’ve just told our staff at Slowlane Mansions they’re going veggie.

Mrs P_F still insists she hasn’t got Covid.
I still have a sense of taste she protested

You married me was the reply

Esteemed podcast watchers, people in the business, and NOT those who follow Karen on FB.
Serious question.
Person is exposed to Covid. How long before they “feel symptoms”?
Having got symptoms, how long can they be infectious.
Were they infectious before feeling symptoms?

(Asking for a friend who needs a reason to lock his wife up for a few days)
