:covid_19: đŸ˜· đŸ„ Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

Did you get any comment on what “partial” would mean?

I think they are going for the “you must work from home if you can” angle as opposed to “you should consider working from home if you can”

No idea what it means for hospitality - nothing good I suspect

If they do, and it’s a big if, then, once again, it’s too late.

Of course it is but at least the floppy haired cunt has “saved christmas”

Looking forward to my birthday on the 1st Jan. Fuck Boris.

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

I will be interesting to see if I’ll be joined by a few more fans wearing masks on Saturday at St Marys?

As much of a pain in the arse as it was to go through the UK’s entry requirements, short of stopping all travel whatsoever, this is solid.

You have to fill in a Passenger Locator Form before travel. To complete this, you need to tell them where you’ve been, where you’re going and where you’ll be staying.

You also need to give them a credible negative test administered by a recognised body.

On top of that, you have to provide the reference number of your test(s) in the UK. Mine is tomorrow morning.

I have abandoned the idea altogether - it is going to take an age to get in (Covid passports) plus to close to Xmas for me to want to risk it

press giving it large about 1 person dying with Omicron - I would like to know how old this person was, what co morbidities (s)he had and what (S)he was admitted to hospital for

They have to start getting a lot more transparent - the public know too much about Covid. Start bullshitting us and trying nudge tactics and people are going to ignore advice when it really matters

These 10 in hospital with it - are they there because of covid or something else

That was true of the hospitalised South African Omicron patients. They only found they had Omicron after being admitted for other reasons
all hospital patients in SA were tested as a matter of course. This from SA stats 1.06 onwards

A bloke in New Zealand was added to covid death figures despite dying from a gunshot wound.

That’s the trouble isn’t it, if you have Covid and you die then you’re down as a Covid death. If you have aggressive cancer and covid what did actually kill you?

That is why I’ve preferred looking at the excess deaths figure, gives you a better handle on things.

A little note in today’s Telegraph at the end of an article on something else - 27% of the people currently listed as in hospital for Covid were admitted for something else

France threatening greater restrictions on Uk holidaymakers due to Omicron

Utterly pointless because

1 they already have it
2 it’s being community spread
3 our testing is about three times theirs so we will obviously id more cases

But I guess it make Lil napoleon feel in control and statesmanlike

I’d much rather he was trying to beat the UK holiday-maker than his own people in the streets on a weekend.

We’ll have to choose somewhere else. Those poor bastards were getting killed or permanently maimed.

I can remember @TheCholulaKid putting me on the spot when the little twat got elected, asking if I thought it was better that Macron was elected over Le Pen. All I can say is in retrospect is that Le Pen would have had to fucked up a shitload to have fucked up more than him.

and some valid point in this one as well

It involved Labour’s shadow home secretary, Wes Streeting, who’s been in the job about a week, having to act as de facto umpire in the Brainless Tory of The Year Award, as they took it in turns to try and give him a kicking for the thing their own government is doing.

With admirable eloquence he explained how none of their points mattered. That they could mutter on about omicron being “more mild”, even though there’s precious little evidence as yet that it is, and that the vaccines will prevent severe illness. But the point was that if omicron sweeps through the country, it will sweep through NHS workers who probably won’t die but who won’t be able to work, and the NHS will collapse. And that – that – is the main point, the only metric that matters. And it matters a hell of a lot more than whether vaccine refuseniks get to go to nightclubs or not.
