Seems that Joe Rogan has his head well above the parapet on COVID. Heās being portrayed as anti-vax, which I think is a little unfair. His big question is whether young healthy people, particularly children, need to take it.
The numbers suggest that unvaccinated children have less complications from contracting COVID than vaccinated adults.
Personally, I donāt think vaccinating kids is a good idea if the risks outweigh the reward. Potentially perfect setup for a Children of Men type situation.
Itās not just that though is it, Vaccines have been shown to reduce transmission of Covid so if the kids are asymptomatic, which a lot of them will be, then theyāre less likely to pass it on to their peers and elders.
Also, if you read the thread I posted above, thereās something called the āwaning effectā for the vaccine which means it is less effective after about 5 months, especially so for the AZ one, so the kids getting Covid assymptomatically may be passing it on to the less well protected oldies.
The risk of transmission is important, but post-vaccination, the consequences of contracting the disease seem to be a lot lower. I would sooner let the vaccine do its job in the elder population than unnecessarily expose kids to potential side effects - which are greater in occurrence than major problems with COVID, according to Rogan.
Iāve had two contacts with positive cases in the last week and now have mild symptoms. Three negative lateral flow results but now waiting for PCR result to be on the safe side.
UK reactive rather than proactive. Waiting until hospitals are struggling againā¦āInsanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.ā
