Yes but does that mean we should be letting it rip through our young and fuck the consequences?
Dunno - not a healthcare expert tbf. How does the death rate among young un’s compare against unvaccinated olds? What are the hospitalisation rates? I’m not in favour of the Govt bowing to pressure of businesses and relaxing rules btw.
Death rate is low in the young as is hospitalisation. Same for fully vacced. The consequences of allowing covid to run wild amongst the young is unknown with regard to long covid/future health issues. Also increases potential for mutations.
By keeping schools open the Government appears to be playing a herd immunity by stealth tactic. The young aren’t being vaccinated. They are being experimented on. Still, it will be holidays soon and then we can blame the parents.
Aye, and the amount of parents having to self-isolate because of kids testing +ve must be having an adverse effect as well?
Scotland seems well ahead of Engerland on this judging by the amount of changes to working hours to home school I’ve had from Scottish colleagues - still, their summer hols start soon
The decision about vaccinating school-age teens has not yet been taken
Yes, I meant currently they are not being vaccinated.
So you are data driven.
Yet no significant update to the symptoms list.
Lots of reports that in the young it is presenting similar to hay fever.
India has had this variant for months. Any data on long Covid from there?
Or is it just “we done science now party” at the old Etonian club?
Not sure what the answer is
We cannot keep bringing kids out of school in the volumes that we currently are - there education is going to be hammered. The bubble system does not seem to be proportionate.
Unless we vaccinate the kids, then the current situation wont go away
Is it safe to vaccinate the kids (risk / reward) - reward will include economic and education benefits as well as health
This is going to have to be a least shit decision - whatever they do here will attract a degree of justifiable criticism but whatever is done, someone is going to suffer somehow, somewhere
The mRNA vaccines have been shown in clinical trials to be safe in 12 and upwards children https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2021/05/10/pfizer-covid-shots-should-made-available-younger-teens-fda-says/7398228002/ and is being tested in younger ones.

Registering your test is a “bit of a faff”, seriously
After the National Audit Office said last week that just 14% of lateral flow tests were being registered with NHS Test and Trace, an expert has said the process to input results is “a bit of a faff”.
Jon Deeks, professor of biostatistics at the University of Birmingham, told Sky News a mix of uncertainty and reluctance to perform the tests themselves was having an impact.
"We don’t have any collected data to see where these tests are - there were a lot of anecdotal reports saying that there are offices in schools which are full of them, and in other places.
"I suspect people are getting a bit fed up using them, certainly amongst people I talk to their compliance rate has gone down.
“The process of registering them… it’s meant to be done but it’s a little bit of a faff.”
Read more about the different types of Covid tests and how they work here.
He’s not wrong … we’ve given up registering the result. We just do the test for our own interest. For me, the whole thing become a charade when I put in to the App that I had tested negative and it sent me a text message telling me that I was negative. Had I been positive and input that I was negative, I’d have received a text saying I was negative. Complete bollocks. The QR code only reads the text of the test “slide” and does not link you to your NHS app. At least when you used to go into the Community Drop-In Test Centres, the QR code did work !
£37billion.
Clearly Flu will be making a comeback once the great unwashed start mixing with no restrictions & Covid will be hot on its heels. Sensible precaution I guess.
And then you get this:
The vast majority of those in Mum’s care home are vaccinated- residents and staff.
Quite how religious grounds is a reason not to have the vaccine is beyond me.
My view is no jab, no job. Hire / train people who will have the jab .
