I think a £10k fine will make them stay put

England I know but they’re hoping the other ā€œhomeā€ nations will follow suit…

Didn’t stop a shit load of parties in lock down areas over the weekend

TBH people are getting more and more fed up with it and don’t see it as an issue. Do you know, personally, any one that’s tested positive, I don’t. Lot’s of friends of friends of friends but no one directly.

It’s going to take a shit load of positive results and deaths for people to start taking this seriously again…

I’m not defending the parties BTW but can see why they are happening…

And this REALLY doesn’t help

Nope, no it doesn’t…

I think one of the ministers has said that this shouldn’t be the case, but when did MPs ever do what was right when their own privileges were being threatened

An why do they need a bevy after 10pm anyway - maybe that’s why they do fuck all in the mornings

Same here.
My nipper is at Uni of Manchester. Took him up at the beginning of the month to a house he is sharing with 8 mates. Weekend before last they were contacted by test and trace after a night out and all went for a test. 4 of them tested positive, including the lad and all of those have no symptoms. The whole house is self isolating for 14 days and it sounds like they are sticking to it. So far it’s sounds like it is a FIFA tournament and takeaway pizza frenzy. The vast majority of students who will get it will have no problems with it. Providing they observe the isolation and don’t go out and are mindful of those who are more susceptible to problems, then they should be fine and will have antibodies and won’t be some sort of pariah when the travel home at Xmas. A lot of young’uns get a bad press and i think that is unfair.

Parliament scraps alcohol sale exemption

Alcohol will no longer be sold in Parliament after 22:00, officials have announced, amid a row over the revelation that bars and restaurants used by MPs and Lords were exempt from the coronavirus restrictions.

Earlier the Times reported that venues in the parliamentary estate were not subject to the early closing time rule brought in this month because they were designated a ā€œworkplace canteenā€.

Labour’s Dawn Butler described the situation as "outrageous… one rule for MPs one rule for everyone else", while Care Minister Helen Whately said ā€œParliament shouldn’t be sitting round late at night drinkingā€.

Within hours of the story emerging, a Parliament spokesperson issued a statement saying: ā€œAlcohol will not be sold after 10pm anywhere on the parliamentary estate.ā€

In line with the government’s guidance, catering facilities will remain open later than 22:00 when the house is sitting, to serve food for MPs and staff still working.

Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner reacted to the announcement, saying Parliament ā€œmustā€ follow the rules set for the rest of the population.

How about people actually start taking responsibility for their own actions and actually going home.

Soon it’s going to get to the point where they won’t be able to go to pubs as they’ll be shut (again!!!)

I know, I know, personal liberties and all that, I know it’s shit but flagrantly breaking the ā€œrulesā€ is just going to make the ā€œrulesā€ tougher…

I hear him, i really do, but is the lockdown the reason why deaths are so low, if we didn’t have this restriction on our lives would more people have caught it and therefore more people have died from it?

I don’t know myself but, to be honest, I’d rather not play Russian Roulette with anyone’s life let alone my own.

I’m also of the understanding that most covid related deaths are Co-morbid ones. So is covid really the 24th in the death stakes. Average deaths would suggest 60k+ extra have died this year, surely there aren’t 23 diseases with a higher death rate. If there were that would be 12m+ people dying a year…

Now that I’ve waded in and proved ā€˜the science’ wrong, we can all just get on with our lives.

I might have said something profound but I’ll never know cause I got quickly bored of listening to myself spout bollocks, again and again and…
