I work in healthcare, its based on clinical evaluation and risk as opposed to any āpoliticalā bullshit⦠you should try it sometimeā¦
Then youāll know that people were wandering about in shops mask free since today.
Itās ridiculous.
The only good thing is that it flushes all the closet authoritarians and grasses out into the open.
Instead of fining the punters theyāll start fining the shopkeepers, thatāll make them stop people coming in without masks.
Iāll concur that the timing is stupid
The coppers could also make plenty of bank if they had access to CCTV as well.
The shops will go under though.
I think those shops that turn a blind eye will turn a massive profit.
Scotland had less confusion and made a simple statement⦠masks worn by all in shops, very rare to see idiots without oneā¦
As for timing, The argument will be that when in lockdown, anyone with symptoms or concerns stayed at home⦠as lockdown ease, and the streets and shops get more crowded and social distance of 2m becomes more difficult, even if you are asymptomatic, you could be spreading, so stop being s elfish cunt and reduce the risk by wearing a mask⦠its not a difficult message to provide
Itās like using condoms after youāve already knocked someone up.
Thereās also no evidence that masks are even effective.
On a population level, no as no-one has completed any long term populations studies, but on a simple ādoes a mask stop your spittle travelling on to to a neighbouring person or surface when you are talking bollocks, coughing, or spluttering like a loonā then yes there is evidence that a face covering reduces this.
Washing hands and hygiene is equally important, but that is not being debated.
Your analogy is actually a bit shit⦠a better one is like that of climate change⦠we have a choice to act despite there being questions over some of the evidence because we have nothing to lose or do fuck all and risk any future intervention being too lateā¦
⦠how is wearing a mask such a big deal???
If youāre coughing and spluttering, you shouldnāt be out.
Yeah just like all those surgeons donāt wear them because theyāre bloody pointless.
Thatās PPE. Itās different gravy than the slop people are whacking onto their faces.
It wasnāt even available at the peak, so it was effectively not mandated.
I cough and splutter so according to you I shouldnāt be out. My coughing is caused by hay fever, I get it every year so why should I stay in? I wear a mask when I am out because 1, I am not afraid to wear one and 2. It helps protect others
Someones been reading MLTs tweets
not quite⦠surgeons were masks for teh same reason as we are being asked to now, NOT to stop us catching something but to prevent us spreading stuff. Ideally we would have been doing this from day 1 of lockdown, but as we are now gathering in crowded shops again, it is one of many measures we should be happy takingā¦
I have no problem with wearing a mask.
I think the timing is very strange.
If mask wearing has an adverse effect on consumer spending the Government will abandon masks immediately.
It will because I am no longer going shopping
Are you knocking MLT?
Are you even a fan anymore?
I sneeze all the time. Itās a skill, and perhaps I should have been more explicit in my statement.
If youāve got symptoms, you shouldnāt be about.
Most people donāt got symptoms, and yes, Iāve heard asymptomatic transmission is supposed to be a thing.
I think much more of a thing is 25K poeple being transferred into care homes at the peak of the crisis.
I think the timing of this thing is a load of bollocks, based on a political motive to get people commuting again in August.
