:covid_19: 😷 šŸ„ Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ā“

Lockdown started on 23rd March…certain extra restrictions would be placed to those people identified as being at greater risk and would be notified in a letter from the NHS. They should not leave their dwelling place and avoiding any face to face contact with others outside their home.

Yesterday, 79 days into the lockdown and 20 day before restriction for frontline vulnerables to be lifted, my wife gets her letter from the NHS informing her she has been identified as front line vulnerable.

WTF!

Been speaking to my mates in Australia About there tracing app

Basically they made one of the conditions of relaxing the restrictions that 5m people had to download and use it. Overnight they got 7m downloads

We could do this

If 25m people download and use the App we will open the pubs

Job done

I agree with you @CB-Saint, I can’t understand why we are obsessed in this country with re-inventing the wheel all the time when elsewhere in the world is a working example. Surely we just use that ?

We’ve got friends in Melbourne who are dumbfounded how things are being managed in the UK. I guess they’re not alone …

Not a bad record for a little island with a natural sea border.

It makes you think that it was surely easier to keep the virus out than to actually welcome it here and set these records.

So if shutting down 1 week earlier might have halved the number of deaths, what might it have done for the depth of economic contraction and the speed of our recovery?

This is why government has been so incompetent.

Not being funny, but a 13 year old kid playing a strategy game knows the importance of choke points.

Why the fuck didn’t the government?

Tbh @pap if a 6 year old can put an IKEA kitchen together so perhaps better to compare Boris et Al’s mental abilities to that of a Goldfish

But that’s not surprising surely? This recession has simply been caused by lockdown. It’s not some long term economic decline that was in place causing problems - it was the almost overnight shutdown of shops and businesses.

It would have been 30% had the Ayatollah not been propping up online sales

Very true, but that wouldn’t make much of a headline, would it. I mean, how would they word it?

"Everyone ordered to stop work and remain at home, therefore almost economic activity abruptly ceases."

Not going to shock anyone into clicking the bait now, is it.

Yep, and the recovery will be far quicker - my guess is the quickest ever.

Honestly, this is taking the piss.

You surely need to be beyond reproach if you’re in the public eye.
