:covid_19: 😷 🏥 Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

Reports of kettling from London last night.

I think you can blame the authorities for that.

I suspect there was particularly around Whitehall when it turned violent

However that doesn’t explain the picture above nor the vast congregations around the rest of the country. The overriding view that I got was that the “risk of catching the virus was worth it”, which is fine if it only affected the person making that decision. But it doesn’t, it affects everyone. It affects those people they subsequently come into contact with. It affects those people in the NHS who have to deal with an increased workload due to a spike in cases. It affect those people who have to go into lockdown again because the R number has gone above 1. etc etc

But that’s OK because their right to protest is far more important than someone’s else life.

Spot on.

Agree.

There’s never a good time, is there?

Other than the Blitz, I’m not sure there’s ever been a worse time to congregate in numbers.

It’s less excusable now as we all know a lot more about it (covid) and the way it is transmitted than before the restriction on movement.

Is it?

We’re being told it is safe to return to work. Which is it?

Most of the people in these demos appear to be observing social distancing. Yes, you can blame the arseholes that do not, but you cannot blame responsible protesters for not social distancing if they get kettled by the Old Bill.

Not much social distancing here - and no kettling - in fact people are complaining that there wasn’t a rozzer in sight

Or here - no kettling either

You are going to struggle to blame most of the lapses of social distancing on the police

I think there could be a copper brewing up if you really zoom in on one of those photo’s.

I’m not trying to.

I’m just pointing out that its pointless trying to blame protesters if there is kettling going on.

Where was the kettling?

If you’ve only got truly exercised on this thread since you saw a Black Lives Matter protest, then, in my humble opinion you need to have a word with yourself.

There has been plenty to get angry about that you’re giving tacit approval to by your silence.

For the record, protesting now is stupid - really stupid. But I understand the NEED to do something.

Was watching a Joe Rogan podcast this week that featured a pairing from a left right show, that is to say, a presenter on the left and a presenter on the right.

They say they get on because they are both honest enough to point out when their own team is fucking up.

As my recent posting history shows, I’m not a fan of Keir Starmer or any of the shithouses in his shadow cabinet that did so much damage. They’ve spent the past five years saying and doing the most spiteful things, often out loud.

There is also the present reality I have to accept. The Tories are in charge, nothing is moving them soon and for the sake of the country, I want them do do well in this crisis.

They have, by any reasonable standard, done appallingly, late to every decision, set entirely the wrong priorities. At best, the government can be described as taking the right action at the wrong times. At worst, I think it has been directly responsible for a higher death toll and infection rate than could have been expected.

This is a circus of fucking incompetents paraded about to disguise the fact that Dominic Cummings is running the country, and he’s not even on their team.

Notable today how the fail kept reiterating that Quarantine was devised planned and pushed through by Cummings not the Cabinet.

Do you ever get the idea that Cummings may have upset an editor or two somewhere in the past?
