One thing I immediately noticed on my first visit to the US in the mid '70s were the TV adverts. They have always been hugely condescending in a way they have never been here in the UK. They were like a slap in the face and the only explanation seemed to be they were pitched to the lowest common denominator which is way below that of the UK.
Lord knows we have some pretty stupid people over here but there is a giant swathe of the population in the US that lack a “World View” or even an interest in how the rest of the world behave.

These giant swathes believe they are the world, it’s drummed into them, starting when they begin school, standing in front of the flag, hand on heart singing God bless America, every morning. Hell, they even call their domestic baseball leagues ‘The World Series’.

Oh Dear! Time for Cummings to resign? After all, when Prof Ferguson and the Scottish Chief Medical Officer resigned for doing it senior Tories, including Hancock who said he was “speechless”, all said they had taken the right decision to resign.

I think it was because he got told his wife was ill with covid and she promptly gave it to him. He apparently got a good old dose of it so was unlikely to be running around the country with it
