Isnât that because theyâre secondary schools? I donât think in general secondary schools are going to open this year.
Theyâre being told to open for year 10 and 12
Thatâs their argument and iâm sure theyâre sticking to it!
How about Eton and Harrow preps, are they going back on June 1st?
No idea, do you know? Canât find anything online one way or another.
What a star! I understand Corbyn senior was a pig for the psychedelics in the 60s, according to some contemporaries. Allegedly. Does funny things to the brain apparently. I couldnât possibly comment on that!
Is that to teach in schools, or via applications like Zoom?
I genuinely donât know, but am not going to criticise until I know all the facts.
Interesting dilemma for the government this one. With all the pressure being ramped up against teaching unions, and their insistence that they are âfollowing the scienceâ in sending kids of these ages back, they will be exposed as absolute hypocrites if they donât demand the Eton/Harrow preps to do likewise. Who knows, perhaps they will be shamed into it. But i doubt it.
Well, I think what needs to happen is an independent, public survey of how many Conservative MPs children are going back to school, published and shown to the public.
For reference, a week or so later than the figure I quoted (April 28th), Sky were saying that âmore than 100â healthcare workers had died of Coronavirus.
So 65+ education workers on April 20th versus 100+ healthcare workers on April 28th.
Those numbers seem comparable, to me.
In fact IF the comparison is 65+ in education and 100+ in healthcare - with all the associated enormous risks, and schools have had massively reduced attendance, then Iâd say those figures are enormous for education.
Lots of caveats. I will volunteer (as I already did) that the deaths amongst education staff could potentially all be attributed to factors outside of their job.
I think what people that work in a school are looking for is a statement saying that it is completely safe (for kids, staff and parents) even though social distancing will not be able to be enforced and hygiene on every surface will be questionable.
Those seem comparable to me.
In fact, Williamson has two daughters, donât know their ages - will be interesting to see if theyâll be going back to school - although the main issue is around teachers health I do confess.
Face to Face teaching
Itâs never going to be completely safe - at least until a vaccine is discovered and even then it is not going to be perfect.
We have only ever managed to eradicate smallpox in our history, the odds are pretty shit
So do we never send the kids back?
Whoâs proposing that - itâs not âDo we send them back on the 1st June or shall we shut schools forever?â.
Send them back when there arenât nearly 500 people dying per day, when the âRâ is not heading back towards 1, and when the fucking Government have pulled their incompetent fingers out their arses and get a proper track, trace and isolate strategy in place.
Bletch made reference to waiting until it was completely safe - I just said itâs not possible
Exactly. It really isnât rocket science. The government only have one narrative on this, repeating like a mantra, âchildren are a low risk categoryâ. Yes, we know this but thatâs not the point. We donât know if kids can pass infection on even if they are showing no symptomsof being infected but may well be. Government spokespeople have been asked this but immediately deflect and change the narrative back to their agenda. Itâs a gamble, but they are too dishonest to admit it. Letâs face it, this rush to get some kids back to school is an experiment, see what happens. I would hope no responsible parent would even consider sending their child back to school in two weeks under these circumstances.
Be careful and donât blame the parents. I wonât be sending my kids back, but some donât have the ability, financially, to not send their kids back.
That and theyâve been brainwashed by this Government and their vassal state, the gutter press.
Point taken. Blame is perhaps a bit strong though, i would never do that.
Yeah, your point is valid.
I guess what I was clumsily trying to underline is exactly that, that they canât make the commitment that it is completely safe.
So start from there and ask teachers what they need to feel safe enough.
Donât tell them to go back to work in unsafe conditions with no consultation.
