:covid_19: 😷 🏥 Corona Virus the thread for all your fears ❓

Burn the Witch!!

Or…

That’s a fascinating article.

“The government has changed the way it is counting the number of Covid 19 tests carried out in a bid to hit it’s self imposed 100,000 tests per day target”.

“The HSJ understands that up to 50,000 of the tests that will be reported as having taken place on 30 April will actually represent the mailing or the agreeing to mail a home testing kit”.

Will what is laughingly called our media be raising this in a meaningful way after listening to these lies at today’s press briefing? I won’t be holding my breath.
Hancock is described as “obsessed” with reaching the target. “They are trying every trick in the book”. This is as shameless as it is shameful. Here we are in the middle of a health crisis like this and we are stuck with a government behaving like dodgy second hand car salesmen.
Perhaps i shall change the way i calculate my income for my next tax return. Presumably they will have no problem with that.

Why was the baby of anti-vaccine parents crying?

It was having a mid-life crisis

Harsh. Possibly fair.

I didn’t get the whooping cough vaccine because of a scare at the time.

I did get whooping cough and it was a scare at the time.

I know it’s in the fail but nice to be getting some praise, and good to see the difference we’re making to people who didn’t think they’d manage to get their surgery during this outbreak.

My Aunt had her cancer operation last week at a private hospital.

Yeah it’s all we’re treating at the moment. Hope you’re aunt is recovering well.

Beloved aunt

Another long, well put together & educational piece from across the pond. Less DNA/RNA more psychology and background

The more we understand the complexities the better we can react.

This is bad news.

As is this.

“When the SARS-CoV-2 virus enters the human body, it breaks into cells with the help of two proteins that it finds there, ACE2 and TMPRSS2.

“While there has been much discussion of viral infection in gut and lung cells, researchers have dug into massive gene expression datasets to show that other potential target cells also producing ACE2 and TMPRSS2 are scattered throughout the body—including in the heart, bladder, pancreas, kidney, and nose.

“There are even some in the eye and brain.”

Enough bad news. ACE2 and TMPRSS2 you say?
Time to roll a big fat joint and be saved(non smokers, get baking😉).

“With the rapidly growing pandemic of COVID-19 caused by the new and challenging to treat zoonotic SARS-CoV2 coronavirus, there is an urgent need for new therapies and prevention strategies that can help curtail disease spread and reduce mortality. Inhibition of viral entry and thereby spread constitute plausible therapeutic avenues. Similar to other respiratory pathogens, SARS-CoV2 is transmitted through respiratory droplets, with potential for aerosol and contact spread. It uses receptor-mediated entry into the human host via angiotensin-converting enzyme II (ACE2) that is expressed in lung tissue, as well as oral and nasal mucosa, kidney, testes, and the gastrointestinal tract. Modulation of ACE2 levels in these gateway tissues may prove a plausible strategy for decreasing disease susceptibility. Cannabis sativa, especially one high in the anti-inflammatory cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD), has been proposed to modulate gene expression and inflammation and harbour anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Working under the Health Canada research license, we have developed over 800 new Cannabis sativa lines and extracts and hypothesized that high-CBD C. sativa extracts may be used to modulate ACE2 expression in COVID-19 target tissues. Screening C. sativa extracts using artificial human 3D models of oral, airway, and intestinal tissues, we identified 13 high CBD C. sativa extracts that modulate ACE2 gene expression and ACE2 protein levels. Our initial data suggest that some C. sativa extract down-regulate serine protease TMPRSS2, another critical protein required for SARS-CoV2 entry into host cells. While our most effective extracts require further large-scale validation, our study is crucial for the future analysis of the effects of medical cannabis on COVID-19. The extracts of our most successful and novel high CBD C. sativa lines, pending further investigation, may become a useful and safe addition to the treatment of COVID-19 as an adjunct therapy. They can be used to develop easy-to-use preventative treatments in the form of mouthwash and throat gargle products for both clinical and at-home use. Such products ought to be tested for their potential to decrease viral entry via the oral mucosa. Given the current dire and rapidly evolving epidemiological situation, every possible therapeutic opportunity and avenue must be considered.”

Now the first and last links are pre prints, so feel free to give them as much/little weight as you have to Ferguson and ICL.

I did wonder when CBD would come to the party.
A mate of mine runs a CBD Company in Eastleigh aimed at Cancer & epilepsy sufferers among others, doing it the right way with products already being pre-licenced & tested

Do you know if they supply to mental health sufferers?

Have fun reading about Matt (29) who decided to go out for a drive with his mum and dad to see a meteor shower … just believe in natural selection people. We will rise above these mongs and inherit the earth.

The excess deaths

Not firewalled, interestingly

I am getting a bit frustrated with what is happening with one of our neighbours

She is a lovely old bird - 102, and still lives on her own. Her family live in Australia and she is looked after be a couple of people in the street and carers who come in 4 times a day.

Recently she has taken to falling out of her chair and she is unable to get up. She then stays there until the carers or a neighbour pops in

The carers for what ever reason cannot pick her up (risk that she may Be injured?) so they have to call an ambulance- this is the fourth time this week. Given the pressure the NHS is under this cannot be sustainable

Now I get that she doesn’t want to go into a home, however surely we have moved beyond what her wants are and we should be taking into account the impact her wishes are having by tying up all these resources. Particularly whilst this covid shit is happening

The compromise is to let her live at home but tie her to the chair. Everyone’s happy.

I reckon Johnson will say people of close family and groups of up to 8 people known will be able to visit homes from Friday for VE Day, this’ll be seen as Boris giveaway and the punters will love him for it, our whole street is gearing up for this, not for VE Day really but just to get smashed with someone other than your family.
