Wow.
Total 24 hour lockdown in Dubai. Food/Med shop 1 person allowed but with their cost of living being on Furlough could be horrific

My guess is that as with the Swiss, the population is generally quite disciplined… they would just naturallybstaybaway from big crowds and secondly, lots of folks spread out in countryside… look at difference we have here between incidence rates and population density - big cities, biggest problems as we would expect…

The PFA are putting forward the arguement that a wage cut for their members is detrimental to the NHS because of lost taxes and by being paid a full amount is doing is all a favour

How about fuck off you grasping cunts

That’s true though. Why the hell is that money going to the NHS, its publicly funded. That money should go to non-publicly funded charities.

What should happen is the following:

  • Players get paid the same so they pay the full tax and NI on their full wages.
  • Players are given the option to contribute 30% of their post tax wages to a charitable organisation to help with Coronavirus patients, funeral costs etc.
  • Those players that decide to contribute are put in a list in the newspapers, to say thanks. Those that don’t, aren’t.

This way the NHS is still funded but through normal measures.

Why are footballers being singled out and not bankers? Hedge fund managers? Airline owners?

Football club owners as well.

I don’t disagree, I’m just saying that if they want to do this it needs to be done in a better way.

The reason footballers are being singled out is because they are more visible than others, earning obscene amounts of money.

Interesting article here about it:

How about just that high proportion of their wages they earn and DONT pay tax o… image rights obtained abroad etc?..

Or how about they take a pay cut, the club then uses that money to pay the non playing staff so I don’t have to

That’s a different kettle of fish, and the clubs that are furloughing staff in the Premier League shouldn’t be allowed to. The Government should have put a cap based on the liquidity of a company.

So the stupid bastards who are taking the piss out of the social distancing rules have now got us to the point where they are threatening to ban exercise outside the home

Brighton beach had thousands on it including two dickheads who thought a BBQ was a good idea

Lambeth have had to shut a park because of idiots sunbathing and congregating in large groups

Exactly - as I said on the Labour thread, this country is full of pieces of shit people.

I went out a 6.30 this morning to avoid the chance of meeting weekend walkers…I don’t usually do sunrises…

I agree @Goatboy, this is despicable witch hunting … I’m sure all the Parliament high earners will be volunteering a pay cut to subsidise the lower paid people in the system. Whatever you think about who earns what, it is not licence to insist that the rich donate to the poor. This horrendous situation is truly bringing out the worst in people at the time when the very same are outside their doors clapping … beggars belief.

Sorry, I don’t see a witch hunt, Surely the point is the ridiculousness of furloughing the low paid workers only, whilst the high earners retain 100% of earnings? NO one is saying the rich should give to the poor, but if a company puts its staff on reduced money, why does that not apply to all? Why only the already lowly paid?

What hope is there for mere mortals when…
