If not used, applied correctly, these measure give a false sense of security and have no impactā¦ eg, putting on gloves and then taking them off without touching themā¦ not easyā¦ you simply transfer the virus from the outside of your glove onto the tins you pick up, or your hands or everything you touch with them on ā¦

Masks prevent spreading, and only really prevent infection for those who come into close contact with the infectedā¦ this can encourage folks with symptoms to go out when they should stay at homeā¦ same applies when putting on or taking off as with glovesā¦
Overall, for the public as a whole, the best advice is still, isolate as much as you can, social distance and wash your hands after returning home, and also after touching items you have brought into your home - every time until they have been in the home for at least 3-5 daysā¦

I wear rubber gloves when I walk the dog because I climb over metal gates to walk over isolated fields. When I get home I wash my gloved hands with soap and water, peel them off and let them dry on the window sill. I wear them to collect post and parcels during the day then throw them away.

Well in my defense I think carefully about everything I touch outside the home at the moment. I went to get a newspaper on Sunday but I wonāt be doing that this weekend. Not visited a shop since then. Saturday our weekly online shop arrives which will be carefully wiped clean before being put away.

A mask and gloves ARE helpful as are a pair of glasses/sunglasses They reduce the amount of times you can inadvertently touch your face.
Gloves are sprayed & wiped with sanitizer BEFORE removal then washed at home when doing the post outside scrub down.
Obviously it wont work for the idiocracy but thenā¦
