A Bournemouth University student has tested positive for the novel coronavirus COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating.
The student informed us of being tested after coming into contact with the virus through another individual based in the UK, not at the university. The student followed Public Health England (PHE) advice and self-isolated pending the results of the test. We are supporting the student to ensure they have everything they need to recover quickly from the illness.
Itās about a proportional response though surely? Some 25k people with virus symptoms have been properly tested here so far, 99% of them are all clear. Do we need to go into lock down now, schools shut, commuting stopped, sports events closed, cities into ghost towns? It may come to that of course
Iām not suggesting we go into lock down etc, it just seems mad to me that with the Lombardy region of Italy, which includes Milan, in quarantine, flights are still arriving today from Milan at Heaathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, with no checks whatsoever. People from this part of Italy are arriving and wandering around this country at will, having had no checks, not even basic temperature taking. Just seems bizarre to me.
I agree, but you have to remember the actions and response is designed to be more draconian because too many folks just ignore the basics (witness hoarding pastaā¦versus just washing handsā¦). Also in this case the incubation is between 7-14 days any many folks who will never develop symptoms happily not washing eyrie hands and infecting folksā¦
Some sense in this about the virus, what it really means, the reason we are at this point and some sensible answers.
Iām edging towards the Indian professors work, that shows four anomalies and so makes it a deliberate modification. Should be peer reviewed soon and if correct, all hell will break loose.
Uhm⦠not sure. He is a bit of a master of assumption and rather a negative POV⦠which is what certain folks are banking on⦠the āeconomic correctionā may well be necessary, but its much better when this is achieved by a decline in share growth over time, rathe the a crash in which lots of folks get fucked, apart from those short selling⦠which they are happy to engineer.
Problem with this is it can become self fulfilling prophecyā¦
I mentioned Mrs P_Fās BFF works at the airport interacting with passengers.
Sheās not high risk.
BUT her Mum just had a scare with Cancer & major back surgery, her Immune system is already shot to pieces so all these itās only old people jokes dont reflect REAL fear out there that loved ones & family members are at risk
You think Nafeez is negative?
Iāve always considered him a bit of a dreamer(solution side admittedly). Different perspectives i suppose.
The assumptions(virus, not the rest) are where we all are at the moment. The rest is what he sudies, so call it an informed opinion, but take it with as much salt as you like(heās a dreamer ).
Economic correction wonāt happen in an orderly way whilst humans are involved in my opinion, so this could be a god send for some.
Hereās a completely different opinion, with stats that say itās dying off.
And apparently Wikipedia are changing fatality figures for Spanish flu. That Indian professor and his team are looking a good bet, because if it has been modified, they now have a proven, tested means of transmitting whatever they can bolt on to it.
Iāve now developed a desire to stock up on loo roll
Iāve read the article (maybe less thoroughly than I might have done, admittedly), but I couldnāt see any reference to an Indian professor or four anomalies. Where was that in the article, or was it in one of the links that I didnāt follow?
Yes and more inbreds buying pasta spirals and toilet roll as they want to self isolate as they fancy a 2 week marathon on the ps4.
Big business is shitting itself pardon the pun over this and there probably been huge arguments today on the process, big business wants business as normal, the Government also but the flak coming their way if they donāt prepare for this (the elderly mainly vote tory remember) against a shut down and minimal movement of people.
Fuck it that will never happen here, people will still be told to go into work by our rulers if they have sars, ebola and coronavirus.
And frivolous aside. Makro (a European version of Cash & Carry) has been stripped of virtually everything here.
Which means problems later in the village shops.
Need more Beer & Vodka. We have 2 weeks stock of everything elseā¦
Unless the Power Stations lose workers & the freezer cuts out
