The one thing I cannot understand is why Leeds hardly bothered to press our back line in possession. They must have known from our previous four games that we simply disintegrate under pressure when trying to playing out from the keeper, I think I only saw them press us around our area twice.
I think it was because we set out to mix up our usual Martin plan by adding more long balls to the mix and moving the ball more quickly, which made us less predictable. It certainly wasn’t what they expected of us nor many of our fans.
There were no “courageous” drawing of the press to create space in the middle of the park which had in the past led to giving the ball away in our last third, we simply by-passed their midfield to supply the front men.
