:Ru: Care to comment on Russian aggression?

As they couldn’t agree to a carving up of a nation and recognised the borders of many other nations in the Soviets sphere.

Yes they would have.
No i didn’t.
You still haven’t answered any of the questions as you claimed.

So engage with the questions.

And here you do your usual.

The Soviets, all serious historians and any one that can count.
That’s exactly what you were questioning, but you know your backing a loser(yet again) so attempt to turn it around. Well tough shit Barry, you don’t get to decide what others have to do.
Bagration Barry. Explain it and maybe compare.

Why compare? Compare it to what does that mean they solely won the war?

Your logic is flawed, wrong and ignorant.

Explain it, the significance and numbers. You know your history don’t you?
My logic is sound, correct and backed up. Yours not so much.
Anyway back to the questions. If Bagration sticks in the craw so badly, have a go at the funding.

Still stand by this?

It doesn’t stick in the craw at all why would it? What funding? Funding of what, what a wide statement and question, be more specific man.

Yes of course. The numbers are massively in favour of this, as are all serious historians.
Others played a role (however small), but it was only Russia/USSR that did over 3/4 of the work. You can divide up the 20-25% left however you like, but do remember all those others that deserve recognition. Small nations are rightly proud of winning minor skirmishes. The Battle of Britain is a fine example. Major to us, but not really relevant to who would win.

The second world war was always going to be a gigantic conflict between two totalitarian states. Where Britain went wrong was not letting the two of them kick the shite out of each other for a bit before getting involved.

The other blunders were:-

  • The guarantee to portect Poland
  • Actually going through with it

Even at the time, the United Kingdom knew it could not save Poland in the event of invasion. It was the biggest bluff ever. It failed, and idiotically, we called for war.

If we were wiser, we’d have sat back like your heroes the Americans, instead of ending up needing their help and getting taken to the fucking cleaners for the privilege.

They did more harm to this nation than the Russians ever have.

It’s a simple fact Barry. Russia won WWII. Now give thanks

Watch others die while we sit across the channel?

Classy.

Why do you think Chamberlain wanted peace so much, a European war was never going to be contained in Europe, he did it in the hope of preserving the Empire, the moment we went in we knew that would all change.
War breeds nationalism breeds independence.

For someone that claims to have tremendous knowledge of history, you don’t seem to have much grasp of our own. Sitting back across the Channel while people die in European wars has pretty much been the modus opperandi for 800 years. It’s probably one of the reasons why the civilisation has such longevity.

Referring specifically to Poland of 1939, it was a military dictatorship with previous form for an opportunist war in the nascent Soviet Union, actually winning and gaining territory after the armistice.

The Polish War Guarantee is perhaps the single most dunderheaded bit of foreign policy the UK has ever mustered. We’d have always have ended up fighting the Nazis. Just might have been nice to wade in on a solid footing instead of an easily called bluff.

I don’t claim anything of the sort.

The channel has been our wall of course but that doesn’t mean to say we’re adverse to going into Europe for military purpose. Where have I disagreed concerning the betrayal of the Polish? Its your motives and examples I question, concerning the Polish/Soviet war, how did the Soivets treat the Polish then?

Chamberlain wanted peace for selfish purposes of legacy and also he knew he didn’t want to be known as the man who ended the Empire. He was the elite, he was close to the King, he needed peace but all he got was war as he was naive, selfish and a fool for listening to his close circle of cronies.

Shame ours don’t do the same for Assange.

Do what?

Shame our newspapers don’t unite in his defence.

I think they may have to be careful as its a pending case, your logic is flawed as he is in prison for breaching bail if I not correct? He’ll be free from the UK then but the US are charging him for various things, imagine if he did that concerning Russia’s secrets? He’d have a umbrella up his arse by a Bulgarian before you can say gulag.
