Bye bye Mauricio

Mark Hughes would be terrible. Stoke fans hated him, 3 years in and they still didn’t have a noticeable style of play or character. Prior to that he was terrible at QPR, not great at Man City. Why are people saying they would like him? - Baz? When was he a decent manager anywhere?

Get Pearson back, init.

Blackburn looked good for a while, but that was a long time ago.

Why do I have a nagging feeling that whoever we appoint is going to be deflating

The dinosaur-manager-merry-go-round is cruel. Our options seem to pretty much between someone with loads of baggage and a track record of failure or a total punt.

Not enough clubs are doing their part like Saints, and bringing in new managers. Our last 5 managers have all made their PL management debuts with us.

If we’d done it (made a change) sooner, I’d have liked us to take a punt on someone. Now, god knows. Like you, I feel deflation is inevitable.

What I would like to know is what happened between Saturday 17:00 and Monday 21:00?

Were they deep in conversations with Pellingrino trying to see if he could change his style?

Did the Chinese actually whisper something to Les and Ralph that made them do something?

What went on that prompted this decision sooooo late in the day?

I’d hate it to be Hughes, whoever we get we’ve fucked ourselves as we left it too late, who would take it with a relegation on their resume? He had to go but he had to sooner, this helps little and without Reed and Kruegar gone and others we’ll still be the same really, I’ve always said Bert Van Marwijk but I’d be happy with Graham Potter or even Silva, why would they come now though? Why should they gamble so much? We’ll get Hughes as he’ll get loads of clauses in the agreement and Championship football and him bringing us up(he won’t) again will appeal to the ideology of the board (cheap) and also Hughes.

We’re 99% fucked and its all been done in 2 years, thats impressive, almost pom*ey impressive.

The most amusing part about MPs departure is how pissed off the fans from the teams around us are. They were banking on him taking us down.

Very dignified statement, which is pretty much what I’d expect.

I’m sure a decent 7 figure bonus would cover that.

Anyway, if they don’t suceed in keeping us up, they could always do what Redflaps did and pretend it didn’t happen!!

Maybe there wasnt consensus about firing him?

:lou_eyes_to_sky:

I’m not expecting anyone brilliant to take over but to be honest it almost doesn’t matter. We were going down with Pellegrino. If it’s someone like Hughes then I hope it’s just till end of the season and a fresh start in the summer, whatever division we are in. Silva, Hughes, Potter, Kelvin…doesn’t matter…a change was needed and hopefully there will be some immediate effect.

Whoever it is, as well as on a huge monetary bonus if we stay up, is also in a no-lose situation for their reputation.

Plenty of pundits and our own fans are saying its too late and it will certainly require a massive turnaround in performances to have any hope.

If they don’t succeed no one will be surprised. Do the business ≠ hero status.

Form a queue :lou_lol:

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chinese took the cheap option and didn’t even appoint anyone. What’s the point if they’re just going to sell us off anyway? We could be the first club to be relegated without a manager in order to bolster the value of the club before a sell off.

I’d like to see Bert Van Marwijk get it just to fucking shut Barry up. :lou_sunglasses:
