Barry the word you missed was ‘Loan’ from the ECB, not ‘gift’ etc… as usual folks forget its a private company that makes these choices, like that great British inventor and entrepreneur Dyson deciding to move all his production to china… as always its easy to twist this as the EU fucking Britain… but for would have gone anyway, the 80million loan just meant they went to Turkey instead of somewhere else.
At the time there was also the chance of Turkey being more democratic… what we should be saying is that given how they have turned out, its a positive they are getting the cold shoulder from the EU
