tangible Barry… what are you now able to ‘self determine’ that will make things better for you?
Nah, it’d be laughable if it was Bangladesh, or Mauritius.
Factories have to be certificated and are randomly checked a number of times per year to maintain their certification.
To determine whether we’re better in or out, we can now decide or determine to rejoin if we wish, hows that?
Did make me laugh that… for a second, but seriously, what piece of self determination will make your life better over next few years?
I always thought that the whole blue passport thing was just a metaphor for the Little Englander mentality. I have never understood why people get worked up about it. It is a travel document. It allows you to travel from one place to another. It doesn’t make you a better person if it is blue, red or green. Mine sits in a draw most of the time unseen. When people get their blue ones will they leave them casually lying on the coffee table as some kind of status symbol? I had to change mine a few months ago so mine will be red for some time to come, but as long as it does it’s job I really couldn’t give a toss what colour it is and what is on it.
The people who have those old British passport covers over their EU passport are opposite side of the coin to the ones who’ll now have an EU cover, hopelessly stupid.
You think I was joking? A vote on anything hasn’t been put before mp’s and in turn us yet, we voted to leave to see the benefit, its a long term project, if it fucks up we can go back in.
In or out it won’t make fuck all difference to many, you want to think it does as you didn’t get your way this time, but really will it?
Be honest.
What disadvantage are you solely at now?
Barry, I think it is fair to say that you wouldn’t recognise a “nuanced argument” if it bit you on the testicles.
I think it was something that was announced by government (not sure why) but then seized upon by the remain supporting faction to amplify this “Little Englander” narrative.
Most leave voters are like you - they don’t give a toss what colour it is - just can it get me into where I want to go.
On here no, I seen more balance and impartiality reading discussions between the nationalists and loyalists…
Fuck the ney sayers, own little England slur, fuck all of Europe is nationalist and flag waving at every opportunity, the pro EU bells never mention that though, selective, very selective.
It makes you wonder how come there is still an EU then Barry. Here is a “nuance” for you. It is quite possible to wave your country’s flag but still be happy to be part of the EU.
Unless its in England as you’ll be called a fascist and sneered.
I wonder how there is an EU, didn’t they just sell out to Hungary and Poland on human rights issues as they were scared of a veto?
Most nations populace are particularly happy to be a part of the whole EU though.
Thats kinda my point.
Barry, I would estimate that 90% of what is debated in the HoC has not been put before us BEFORE its debated… if we disagree, we may get a small chance to rectify in a GE AFTER the fact, but you are kidding yourself if you think you are ‘having a say’ on many of the issues… do they ask you to vote on the budget every year, or do you just accept you tax change?
Just like you had a say in what goes on in Brussels…
You didn’t answer the question I asked you, I graciously answered yours, please show the same respect.
The irony was we could have had any colour we liked when in the EU… there is no stipulation that it must be purple… Our Government just chose it
NO Barry… the nuance here is that sadly the Cross of St George was hijacked by the NF in the 70s/80s and as thus when displayed is sadly associated with far right wankers… there is also another less nuanced, but fucking big difference between nationalism and national pride… and another big difference between both and the Little Englander mentality that is brought up… they are not the same thing.
Tangible benefits that will be realised this year.
- Abolition of tampon tax
- Duty free without having to leave the continent
- Not having to pay my tax to support a political organisation I fundamentally disagree with
- Having the lot on offer next general election
- Not having to listen to:-
- Nigel Farage
- Anna Soubrey
- Dominic Grieve
- The end of the paralysis of our political system, which for four years, did little in the way of reform
Emily Thornberry? Is that you?
Barry, you have merely responded with the same conceptual nonsense / rhetoric that w have heard throughout this long debate… you have NOT provided anything that describes a tangible benefit to you.
I can think of several tangible things we have lost already, which i am sure you will dismiss as irrelevant, from travel and work restrictions, opportunities to live and work abroad, etc, and when it filters down, I suspect certain legislative rights will be diluted… I am sure you may sneer at the travel and working abroad opportunities, but this applies to the loss of opportunities for all, not just the ‘middle classes’ that I am sure someone will bring up… anyway the questions was about tangible things, not on their relative importance. So please DO actually answer the question, not with more conceptual bollocks but with something that will make your life better each day?
