So we prorogue tomorrow for the Queens speech so when we reconvene next week (when the original prorogue was due to end) what will our glorious lawmakers have achieved since fighting their court case?
I mean it was so important that they get back there, a while raft of stuff must have been done
So according to the Guardian, the EU has given the government a point by point rejection of the proposals. Unless this is posturing, it appears that the two positions are way too far apart to be reconciled in time.
In other news, an anti-Brexit case which would have forced the PM to send the extension request by court order has been thrown out. Goes to appeal as soon as tomorrow. I do wonder how much public money has gone on arranging these cases with such expediency, and the cases they’ve had to postpone to move these up the pecking order.
That case failed because the court were satisfied that the Government have made a binding commitment to obey the Benn Act. In other words Johnson has surrendered to the surrender act.
Which is what Boris said would happen.
And tbh anyone who has tried to negotiate with one hand tied behind their back would have said was fvcking obvious.
Which gives a massive election boost when I told you so becomes the mantra.
Which was their plan all along…
