:brexit: Brexit - Deal or no deal

So it should not be a surprise that we’ve had conflicting information.

Following the publication of the legal submission, Boris has since insisted there will be no delay on Twitter.

What that means, I don’t know. Steve Baker has also been on Twitter saying that all the legal advice meant is that we would obey the law.

It’s a bit cryptic, but it does suggest some legal rabbit out of a hat.

I think it suggests that maybe some Hungarian fascists will bail him out.

In the outset - all EU will be placed into the UK statue books - that legislation has already passed.

After that it is down to the govt of the day to decide what is what - that can’t be a bad thing can it?

That’s how it came across.

Just read it again.

Still does dad

So we prorogue tomorrow for the Queens speech so when we reconvene next week (when the original prorogue was due to end) what will our glorious lawmakers have achieved since fighting their court case?

I mean it was so important that they get back there, a while raft of stuff must have been done

Well they stopped Boris from bunking off for a start.

So according to the Guardian, the EU has given the government a point by point rejection of the proposals. Unless this is posturing, it appears that the two positions are way too far apart to be reconciled in time.

In other news, an anti-Brexit case which would have forced the PM to send the extension request by court order has been thrown out. Goes to appeal as soon as tomorrow. I do wonder how much public money has gone on arranging these cases with such expediency, and the cases they’ve had to postpone to move these up the pecking order.

On a strangely Saints related note, has anyone else noticed Rupes out there?

That case failed because the court were satisfied that the Government have made a binding commitment to obey the Benn Act. In other words Johnson has surrendered to the surrender act.

Can we at least call it the Hilary Benn Act? Wouldn’t want anyone confusing that shitshow with his old man.

Given their respective views on Europe, I doubt many will struggle to differentiate them.

Hilary’s old man must be spinning in his grave.

So the BEnn act could have made more possible the very thing it was designed to prevent

Too clever by half?

I’m not trying to present this as anything other than it is. It’s just one person’s comments in relation to Boris on Facebook.

More underhand tactics from Boris to make the UK crash out with a No Deal. Just let’s shoot this guy now please, seriously he’s just vermin.

Fucking. Hell.

Is this the ‘humbug’ bozza was talking about?

Which is what Boris said would happen.
And tbh anyone who has tried to negotiate with one hand tied behind their back would have said was fvcking obvious.
Which gives a massive election boost when I told you so becomes the mantra.
Which was their plan all along…

Seems perfectly reasonable. :lou_facepalm_2:

We didn’t win two world wars, unless you count handing the whole empire business over to the Americans.

Well, that’s one objection.

You have to wonder about the thought process of some people. That allied to the instant global reach of Twitter is a recipe for idiocy.

At least when it was published in print the editor could ring up and say “are you fucking sure” before hitting the button
