There are several kinds of intelligence. I watched an entertaining debate between Mary Beard and Boris Johnson about which ancient civilisation was better, Greece or Rome.
Our Prime Minister is not dumb in all spheres, nor are the machinations of Number Ten entirely the work of the Prime Minister. A lot of it is down to his chief SPAD, Dominic Cummings, and it is really just a case of cacheing up the ammunition for an election.
Contrary to Nigel Farage’s fears, I do think the PM is intent on getting out with no deal, or at the very least, completely prepared to accept it. You do not hire Dominic Cummings or Matthew Elliott as SPADs if you’re not doing that.
Theresa May left Boris with a very low bar to clear. All he has to do to improve on her record is meet a fucking deadline. It’s win/win. A deal everyone votes through is a win. A deal no one can accept is a win, especially as Johnson, with some justification, can say that the EU left us with no other alternative.

I don’t think he is thick. I think he’s a liar, a philanderer, a possible abuser of tax payer money, a potential “Idi Amin” character (buffoon at start, ruthless cunt by the end), and a probable Boys From Brazil experiment stemming from Stanley.
He is also the only cunt likely to bring and end to this shit show, so we can get on with starting a new one.

He’s not stupid, nor is he badly advised, at least on this issue. I think there is a massive case to be made for him being a lot of other things, including being completely out of touch with day to day public concerns.
You wouldn’t expect anyone that described a £250k p.a. salary for writing a Telegraph column as “chickenfeed” as being particularly attuned to the hand to mouth concerns of your average citizen, in large part put there by the policies of his party.
He thinks himself the new Churchill. We should let him win his war. If we’re out on the 31st October Labour will be forced to change its policy.
It’ll have to choose between a manifesto offering a campaign to re-enter the European Union or making the best of the new status quo.
I hope they choose the latter. Johnson can be Churchill for a month, just as long as Corbyn gets to be Attlee afterward.
